John D. Eggan Sr.

John D. Eggan Sr., 77, of 701 Croton St., an employee of the Kent Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1971, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 1980, in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital Center, New Hartford, after a long illness.

Born on Aug. 21, 1903 in Annsville, he was the son of David and Ella Armstrong Eggan. On Oct. 3, 1934, he married Grace I. Evans in First Baptist Church. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a member and past president of its Ushers Society.

Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Fank A. [Carol A.] Borbely, and two sons, John D. Eggan Jr., and Ronald E. Eggan; two sister, Mrs. John [Dorothy] Robinson and Mrs. Arthur [Pauline] Payne, all of Rome, and seven grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Strong Funeral Home, with burial in Rome Cemetery.

Calling hours are from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
