J. P. Collins, Taberg Dies

TABERG -- John P. Collins, 64, of Taberg RD 1, died unexpectedly Tuesday at his home. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

He was born April 2, 1900 in the Town of Annsville, the son of William and Anna Shean Collins. On Aug. 3, 1929, in Utica, he married the former Pearl Armstrong. She died in July 1951.

A life-long resident of Annsville. Mr. Collins had been a farmer most of his life. He had also worked for 11 years for Revere Copper and Brass Inc. and for 10 years for the New York Central Railroad.

He was a member of St. Ann's Church, Glenmore, and the Democratic Club of Annsville.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Leo (Julia Ann) Matt, Rome; and Mrs. Robert (Joan) Carpenter, Camden; three sons, Thomas and George, Taberg, and Francis Collins, Camden; one stepson, Kenneth McDonald, Rome, and 20 grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the Griffin and Aldridge Funeral Home, Rome, and at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church Taberg, where a requiem high Mass will be offered. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home today and Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
