John Peter Loevenguth was born in Bundwer Toffon, France, May 16, 1804. At the age of fifteen he
joined the Lutheran church of which he remained a member all his life. In 1826 he volunteered in
the French army and served 6 years under King Louis Philippe. He sailed for America in the spring
of 1833 and settled in Utica where he was married in September 1836, to Miss Mary Ann Keiser. He
came to Camden in the spring of 1841, where he has been a permanent and respected resident until
his death, which occurred July 21st after a lingering illness in which he suffered greatly toward
the last. He leaves a wife, four children, 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He
attained the good old age of 81 years, 2 months and 5 days.
