John Walter Swanson, 73 died Jan. 8 at Churchill Community hospital in Fallon.
He was born Nov. 14, 1925 in Longview, Wash. to Fred and Elsie (Hancock) Swanson.
Swanson lived in Manhattan before moving to Gabbs in 1959. He was a retired miner.
Swanson served in the marines during World War II and was a life member of the Veterans
of Foreign Wars post number 3677 in Gabbs and post number 10047 in Las Vegas.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra of Gabbs; son, Bert Swanson of Fallon; sisters, Louise
Reseck of Yerington and Barbara Wilson of Gabbs; two grandchildren, John and Jenny Swanson
of Fallon; two nieces; and two nephews.
At his request no services will be held.
Cremation is under the direction of the Smith Family Funeral home in Fallon.
