Amboy Center, July 23 -- Mrs. Mattie, wife of ex-Supervisor Seymour Spoon of the town of Amboy died at her late home in Amboy Center, at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, after a lingering illness of seven weeks. She was born in the town of Scriba, Oswego county, April 3, 1867, and was married to Mr. Spoon in early life. Four children were born of the union, two of whom survive. Mrs. Fred Potts and David Spoon, the latter14 years old. Mrs. Spoon had lived here twenty-seven years moving here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Looker, who, with two sisters and a son, survive their daughter's death. Mrs. Seymour Spoon was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge of Williamstown, Oswego county, and also a charter member of the Ladies Relief Corps of West Amboy. Her funeral was largely attended at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, at the Methodist church, the pastor Rev. D. R. Smith officiating. A quartet rendered three selections. The order of Eastern Star was very largely represented and there were several members of the Ladies' Relief Corps present. the floral offerings were profuse and handsome, indicating the high esteem and regard in which Mrs. Spoon was held by her many friends. The interment was made in the beautiful West Amboy cemetery. Friends were present from Syracuse, Oswego, Hillsboro, Carterville and Parish. Mr. Spoon is a business man here and is well and favorably known throughout Oswego and Oneida counties. The sympathy of many friends and of the community at large is extended to the bereaved family.
