A telegram was received here on Tuesday, announcing the death of Mrs. Bennett Cobb, formerly of this place, which occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S.D. Carpenter, in Neponset, Ills. Mr. Carpenter arrived here with the remains yesterday afternoon, and the funeral will be attended from the residence of Frank Mabie, on Third street, between Church and Union, at 2 P.M. today.
Mehitable Cobb was born in Harrisville, Lewis county, in Jan., 1815, and was therefore nearly 77 years of age. After her marriage to Bennett Cobb, a distant cousin, her home was in Camden, the old Cobb homestead on the Taberg road. Mr. Cobb died about four years ago, and a little over a year later Mrs. Cobb went to Illinois to live with her daughter. For over a year she has been suffering from dropsy, which finally terminated her life.
Mrs. Cobb was a quiet home body, a faithful wife and mother, and a consistant member of the Congregational church. She leaves besides the daughter in Illinois, one son, Ezra B. Cobb, of Syracuse, a sister, Mrs. John Doten of this place, and a brother in Trenton, to all of whom the sympathies of the community are extended.
