Mrs. Nellie S. Armstrong

Mrs. Nellie S. Armstrong, 92, of 6822 Stanwix Ave., died today at home after a brief illness.

Born Dec. 14, 1885, in Jay, Vt., she was the daughter of Frank and Sabra Root. On June 6, 1925, she was married to Stuart Armstrong in Rome. Mrs. Armstrong died in 1958.

Educated in Vermont schools she lived in Rome for the past 53 years. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Home Bureau, Stanwix Senior Citizens Club and Stanwix Cemetery Association, of which she was secretary and treasurer for many years.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Leonard [Eunice] Poirior, Winooski, Vt., and Mrs. Charles [Thelma] Wood, Jordan; a son, Howard Armstrong, Stanwix; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Donald [Edith] Aicholtz, Rome; Mrs. Raymond [Mildred] Rokes, Silver Springs, Md., and Mrs. Arthur [Mary] Schumacher, Lancaster, Mass.; two stepsons, Clifford Armstrong, Honeoye, and Herbert Armstrong, Vienna, 25 grandchildren, and several great and great-great grandchildren. Another daughter, Mrs. Louis [Audrey] Hakey, is deceased.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Sutliff Road, Town of Whitestown. Burial will be in Stanwix Cemetery.

Calling hours at the Prince and Boyd Funeral Home are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Thursday. Contributions may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church building fund.
