Nettie E. Newman, 75, of the Rome-Taberg Road, died Sunday, March 14, 1993, after being stricken at home.
She was born March 22, 1917, in the Town of Annsville, a daughter of Floyd and Tinnie Armstrong Ellis. On Sept. 15, 1946, she was united in marriage to Lester Newman. He died June 11, 1990.
Nettie was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. She had been employed at Madison Oneida BOCES as an assistant teacher for 10 years, retiring in 1987. Prior to that, she had been employed at Revere Copper and Brass, Inc. Nettie was a member of the Rome Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Surviving are a niece, Mrs. Geraldine Matteson, of Taberg; two grandnephews, Wayne Matteson, of Taberg and Tracy Matteson, Wake Forest, N.C.; one grandniece, Susan Matteson, of Port St. Lucie Fla.
Funeral services will be held at the Strong and Burns Funeral Home Thursday at 2 p.m. Interment in Maple Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
