CAMDEN -- Sylvia E. Howland, 92 of Second St., died Tuesday, March 10, 1998 at Stonehedge Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since June 1997.
She was born August 15, 1905 in Camden, a daughter of Jay and Cora Lobdell Armstrong.
On October 25, 1924 she married Elmer Howland in Camden. He died May 1975.
Mrs. Howland was a machine operator for the Rochester Shoe Tree Factory, retiring in 1965 after about 10 years.
She was also a member of the Camden United Methodist Church and Camden Senior Citizens.
Surviving are 3 daughters: Beatrice and Joseph Duffy, Rome, Shirley and Max Laribee, Camden, Joyce and Robert Danough, Camden; 2 sons: Lawrence Howland, Camden, Lewis Howland, Syracuse; 1 son-in-law, Robert Webb, Camden; 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren; 4 great, great grandchildren and a special niece, Avis Douglas, Camden.
She was predeceased by: 1 daughter, Norma Webb, 1 grandson, Keith Hamner.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Stonehedge Nursing Home for the wonderful care that was shown to Mrs. Howland during her stay.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday from the Sanborn-McDaniels & LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Camden, NY. Interment Forest Park Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, 109 Main Street.
