OUR PRIDE AND JOY

Alexander

Alex is our second grandson who was born in 1993.  Which makes him 6 years old now.  One of my very first memories of him was just prior to his arrival into this great big world.  Nicci was in labor and all she wanted to do was walk the halls of the hospital.  So around and around we walked.  Finally  it was time for our precious one to enter this world and wouldn't you know it...he didn't want to.  His little shoulders were stuck and was having a terrible time trying to get born.  At the time Nicole was very tired of pushing and began to give up.  Well needless to say the Doctor and nurses were yelling at her to push, but she was so tired.  Thank God those tiny little shoulders were finally free and out he came.  He made a great splash coming into this world and has continued ever since.

Alexander was a very happy baby not to mention a good baby.  If I were to sum up little Alex  the best way to do that is by saying he is ALL BOY.  As a small baby he loved his cars and trucks.  To this very day if you were to check his pocket I guarantee you would find either a hot wheels car or a Pokemon card.  As a very young baby one of the things I remember most about him was the way you could get him to laugh.  Well not just anyone, his Grandpa could.  He would hold him on his lap and just say boo to him and he would laugh so hard.  He would crack us all up.  I still laugh when I think of his first time laughing.  Nicole if your reading this I bet you remember too.

As a very small boy one of the things Alex loved most was the Power Rangers.  He had every movie they made and when the show came on you knew where he was going to be .  Yep you guessed it   right in front of the TV.  It was always  Tommy this or Jason that or did you see Kimberly do that Grandma? If you ever saw the show those names would mean something to you, if not  just trust me on this one they are important names.   Alex has a zest for life and never seemed to slow down.  Well actually he still hasn't slowed down.  hehe..

At about the age of three years old Alexander having no fear of water. In fact he had no fear of anything back then.   But anyway,  Alex was taught how to swim.  Having a pool in the backyard we all felt it best if both the grandkids learned how to swim early.  But who would of ever thought that at 3 he would learn that quick.  One of the things that used to scare me the most was how quick he could be and if you took your eyes off him for just a second  he would jump right in the water.  It was a very good idea that he was taught at that young of age.   To this day both Alex and Cory are water fishes.   Get them into the pool and it's very hard to get them out.

One of the funniest memories so far that I have of Alex (not that her Mom thought it was funny) is when he was in Kindergarten and after about the first week or so of school, when he was taken to day care after school he and another little boy named Alex D (ours was Alex G) decided to experience with the little scissors Alex D had in his backpack.  Well needless to say both boys played barber that day and chopped all their hair off.  I can tell you that his mother was so angry with him because it wasn't but a week away from school pictures and this being his first he was going to have a shaved head.  I remember the first time I saw him after this happened and I truly think I was in shock.  That beautiful hair gone.  Well I for one think that those pictures came out great as you will see.

If I were to  ask Alexander today who his best friend was I would probably hear him say "Bubba"   From the first time that Alex started talking he called his cousin Cory "bubba".  At 10 years old Cory is still called Bubba by both his Grandfather, Alex and myself.  Sometimes you would think that there were   brothers, by the way they always fight.  But I am told that that is boys.   Me having only two girls of my own  this has been a learning experience for me.  But in growing up together the boys have become the best of friends.  Alex would defend Cory at all cost.  He has done it so many times it gets to be funny.   Here are just a few of the pictures the two boys have had taken together

One of the latest things in Alex's life has been the resent marriage of his mother.  Brian came into Alex's life and has been a great father figure for him.  To Alex he loves to call him Daddy.   In every sense of the way Brian is a wonderful father to him.  You almost always hear him saying  my daddy and I did this or my daddy and I went rollerbladding.  We all are truly blessed to have Brian in all our lives but for Alex it's the greatest thing since apple pie and ice cream.

On Sept 11th 1999 Brian, Nicole and Alexander became a family.

As you can see our little Alex is growing up so fast.  And handsome...man he is so handsome.  But then that's a grandmother speaking and well we seem to be prejudice.

Today is June 7th 2000.   The boys are spending the night.  As all good grandmothers do I snuck into the bathroom and took some pictures of them.  They are both so darned cute..

Here are some pictures we had taken on base with the old fashioned look to them.  The boys had a ball doing them and was fun to watch them.  Jun 2000

Xmas  2001

One of the presents Alex got for Christmas was his first motorcycle.  It's a Kawasaki 65 and boy was he excited.  Now he can ride just like Cory, which to him was very exciting.  Here are some pictures of him and his bike.

We took Alex out to ride for the first time and he did great.  He was a little scare but didn't take him long to take off and ride by himself.
