Until I found the Christian church denomination, Seventh Day Adventist, I had a perfect set of reasons not to join a church. I had studied the Bible some, as a curiosity. I wanted proof either that God was the author or that He wasn't. What I found first was that I couldn't find a Christian church that agreed totally with what I was reading in a Christian Bible. Even those who called themselves Bible based fundamentalists didn't take what the Christian Bible says as the basis for their theology.
That's why I was an "independent" Christian. God didn't seem
to be
endorsing any of the Christian churches that I knew about. Christians
changed what God said to fit what they wanted as their religion.
God had written the Ten Commandments in stone. He engraved the stones,
He
didn't paint the words on the stones. Now you have churches that have
modified some of The Commandments. God didn't send out a new modified
set,
but man said they were changed. Jesus said that He did not come to
change
The Commandments.
