Foreword:

One week before the event, the 7-day weather forecast for this area promised temperatures in the 80's.  On the 25th of August, 2000, it appeared as though we might need a tent for the 26th, due to possible inclement weather, since it had rained that night.  As it turned out, the weather on Saturday cooperated.  On the day of the celebration it was a bright overcast day, but the rain stayed away, and the temperature was comfortable.  All in all, it turned out very nicely.

The ceremony was very emotional, especially for me (Jerry).  Wendy said a few words after Chaplain Oas had concluded his portion of the formalities.  Wendy said, that this was not only a celebration of our 30th wedding anniversary, but also a celebration of life.  She made reference to her diagnosis in 1998 with breast cancer, and eventual treatments since that time.  Wendy is doing well.  She is considered as being in "Stage 1," the best possible prognosis.  It will be another 3 years with identical good health before her doctors consider her as being in "full remission," we are very optimistic.

Acknowledgements:

Wendy and I wish to thank all of our family members, friends, neighbors, acquaintances, Chaplain Oas and Cora for helping make this day possible.  Specifically, Wendy's Mother Lena was gracious to volunteer her home and spacious paved parking area for this celebration.  Wendy's brother Jim compiled all the music that was played during the day.  Wendy's brothers Chris and Ray did the logistics, nephew Christopher was part of the team, and Wendy's Sisters-in-Law Terry and Kelly helped prepare much of the food that was available.  Jim, Ray and Cora doubled as chefs, as well, the barbecue creations were absolutely delicious.  Our son Daniel helped his grandmother Lena by digging the mini-crater where she built her decorative fish pond in the back yard.

We also wish to thank all of you who decided to make this event part of your busy lives by attending our celebration as guests.  Without you, all of you, this day would not have turned out nearly as nice as it did.

We furthermore wish to thank all of those far away -- from Europe to the Middle East and other parts of the world, who were unable to attend in person, yet nevertheless sent their well wishes and congratulations via telephone, postal mail and electronic mail.

To the extent possible, I will attempt to name our guests in the photos.  Left-click on any thumbnail image to see a more detailed version of that photo.  Unfortunately, due to limited server space, I will be unable to upload all of the 100-or-so photos that were taken.
