And evangelical Christian and a liberal were talking about
whether the Bible is literally true, and the liberal brought up the story
of Jonah. He asked the Christian, "So do you mean to tell me that you actually
believe that Jonah was literally swallowed by a huge fish, stayed in its
belly for 3 days, and was thrown up on shore afterwards?"
The Christian said, "Yes, I really
believe that."
The liberal said, "How do you know
for sure that it really happened that way?"
The Christian replied, "Well, maybe
I'll just ask Jonah when I get to heaven if that's how it really happened."
"What if Jonah's not in heaven?"
The Christian thought a second and
then replied, "Then you ask him!"
