Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias). There are two heronries in our area, one on Rte. 6 near Hawley, and the other in NY State at Greenville, NY.
Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura).
Canada goose (Branta canadensis).
Osprey (Pandion haliaetus). Local nesting site on Lake Wallenpaupack, Hawley, PA.
Red-tailed hawk (Buteo jamaicensis)
Wild Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo). We have a flock of 3 adults and thirteen youngsters born in the Spring of 1999. They are frequent visitors to the yard. Feeding, mid-February, 2000; all summer 2001.

Mourning Dove (Zenaida macroura). Several families.
Downy woodpecker (Picoides pubescens)
Pair here, late Feb., 2000.

Black-capped chickadee (Poecile atricapillus). I love these little guys. Full time friends.
Tufted titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor). These spunky little fluffy ones also here all year.
White-breasted Nuthatch (Sitta carolinensis). Here all year.
American Robin (Turdus migratorius). What would Spring be like without the Robin.
Female Scarlet Tanager (Piranga olivacea)
Male Scarlet Tanager. We had a nesting pair in the summer of 1999. The picture doesn't come close to showing the brilliant color of the male.
Slate Colored Junco. When I see this little guy, I know it's going to snow. March 17, 2000: Here off and on all winter. 4/8/2000 - Huge flock in back yard; 2001 - Arrived mid October.
The Brown Creeper (Certhia americana); sited March 15, 2000; present 4/14/2000; no siting 2001. To hear song, click here. This strange little bird goes from the base of the tree up, never down; when it reaches the top of one tree it flies to the next and begins at the base again, searching for insects.
