What is Bridal Registry?

The Bridal Registry is a free service offered by stores to marrying couples. To use it, the bride and groom-to-be lists the items from the store that they would like to receive; then when the guests go to shop, they can ask for the list and see at a glance what the couple picked.

Why should marrying couples register?  Won't they look greedy to their wedding guests?

Registering takes the pressure off friends and loved ones. By choosing from a list of items they've selected, the guests will know they're giving the couple something they'd really like (and use).

Registering is particularly important for those who are marrying at an older age. They may already have many household items which makes it harder for guests to know what to get. Bridal Registry also makes duplication of gifts impossible. Guest may not want their gifts sold or be displayed only by couples who received 2 or more gifts of the same kind.

Gifts registered comes in broad spectrum of prices. There will be choices to suit all guests' budgets.  They need not worry about whether gifts are expensive or not.  Bridal registry is a practical way to buy and receive gifts. But it's the guests' choice - they may have other things in mind. The bride and groom will appreciate whatever guests give them.
