My Birthday

Am 50 and still going. How relevant are birthdays, and how relevant it is to celebrate one's own birthday. Pompous.. vain.. and gross. These are my opinions. My ideal birthday celebration.. a trek in the mountains alone.. with just the sound of nature engulfing you. Next time inshallah,

Love all of you. John

UPDATE

Last night, had the freedom to have an extra drink.. excuse "eve of my birthday". Nothing else to do, and hence played chess on line with Alfi. He was there sitting right next to me and playing. I was being forced to stay awake till midnight as both Audrey and Alfi wanted to wish me. I was in no mood to sit till midnight, due to the hectic day I had. Knocked off at 11.30 at night only to be woken up by a lot of noise and singing. The whole group of friends had popped in, had a big birthday cake - all lit up. It was a nice surprise. Zafar had the yellow Thailand T-shirt, showing his affinity to the King. Even Neil was there. The kid needs some sleep guys. It was fun. I will miss these guys when I leave Qatar on the 13th next month. Thats life.. move on.

Now looking for the party tomorrow at m y place. I am making the chicken... red and oily... just the way Sanjay wants. No champagne this time. Just gin and tonic. Cheers.
