IN DREAMS WITH YOU

My dearest one
Though we're miles apart
You stay close
Within my heart

You're in my thoughts
Throughout the day
And then at night
When I kneel and pray

I pray God's angels
Surround you there
To keep you safe
In their tender care

In the night
The stars do shine
And I dream of days
We've left behind

Days of laughter
Days of tears
Growing together
Through the years

I knew I could always
Turn to you
You'd make my gray skies
Turn to blue

I'd like to see
You're smiling face
To spend some time
In your sweet grace

To tuck you in
And say goodnight
Till new day dawns
With golden light

But since that isn't
Meant to be
