In
September 1980, the Mar Thoma Congregation of greater Newyork was divided
into four parishes, NewJersey, Staten Island, Queens and Manhattan.
The First meeting of the Marthomites in NewJersey was held on October
12th, 1980 at Peace Hal, Lutheran Chapel, in Teanack, NJ. The parish
was officially inaugrated on April 5th, 1981 at GoodWill Mission Chapel,
Newark,NJ. Then the worship place was moved to Christ Episcopal Church,
GlenRidge, NJ. Having a place of worship of our own was paramount in
the minds of the members and with that end in view the congregation
unanimously decided to purchase a property, Church and Parsonage in
Randolph Township. The Church was purchased on January 31, 1997 and
the first worship and communion service was held on March 2 , 1997.
The Rt.Rev Dr.Zacharias Mar Theophilus Episcopa dedicated the NewJersey
Mar Thoma Church on October 4, 1997.
