Monday February 14th

William Robertson acknowledged a Deed to John Claiborn and, on own motion, the same is ordered to be registered.


Tuesday February 15th

Grand Jury for the body of this Court sworn (to wit) John Moseley, Henry Hayes, William Wortham, Samuel Williams, Henry Strudivant, Henry Fitts, Joseph Shearin, Nathaniel Nicholson, Edward Clanton, John Jones, Charles Jean, John Todd, William Roberson, Joseph Green, Nathaniel Harris, William Rowland, Samuel Thompson, and John Duke, the above Jurors received their charge and withdrew.

Wednesday February 16th

Benjamin Tarbor is appointed Overseer of the road in the room of Matthew Robertson, and ordered that he keep the same in repair with the hands usually working thereon.

A Deed from George Nichols to William Cooper, was proved by the oath of Jesse Jinkins, a witness thereto, and on motion was ordered to be registered.

Thursday February 17th

Smith and wife, Petitioner, vs Morris, Defendant, - Petitioner's Jurors (to wit) William Powell, William Balthrop, Robert Jones, Henry Shearin, William Shearin, Spencer Waddy, Isaac House, Burwell Robinson, Daniel Vaulx, James Alston, James Cheatam, and Jesse Person, the above Jury being sworn, do find for the Defendant.

Ordered that there be deducted out of Burwell Robinson 's assessment the value of Negro man, named Surry, being infirm and being between ten and forty years of age.

Wednesday May 10th

A Deed from John Prince to Luck Key, was proved by the oath of Agrippa Nichols, a witness thereto, and on motion the same is ordered to be registered.

Friday May 12th

Ordered that Young McLemore, Esquire, take the list of assignment in Capt. Fussell's District and that Philemon Hawkins, Esquire, take the list of assignments in Capt. Nichols' District and James Basket, John Bowdon, and William Clemment be appointed assessors of the same and that Daniel Vaulx, Constable, summon the Inhabitants to give a list of their assessable property to the said Justices.

Ordered that Richard Bush, James Robinson, and Asa Bishop be searchers in Capt. Peter Cox ' District.

An Inventory and assessment made by John Bowdon, James Basket, and William Clemmons, assessors appointed by Capt. Nichols and Fussell's District was returned and ordered to be recorded.

....Then the Court adjourned until tomorrow, 10 of the clock. Wednesday morning the Court met according to adjournment.

Ordered that Julius Nichols be allowed the sum of sixty-three pounds current money as an additional sum for his service dividing the counties in lieu of what was allowed him in Franklin County .

Wednesday August 16th

Ordered that the Sheriff summon John Hawkins, Jr., Gideon Hunt Macon, Bennett Wood, William Clemmons, Jesse Jinkins, Isaac Hunter, Jesse Hunter, Jesse Person, Marmaduke Johnson, Nathaniel Baxter, Matthew Wood, Frederick Malone, Samuel Paschall, Twitty Russell, James Emmerson, Matthew Davis, William Wilson, James Myrick, William Noyal Norsworthy, John Bobbitt Jr., Charles Daniel, John Green, John Willis, William Person, John Brown, William Duke, Charles Harris, Josiah Green, Benjamin Kimbell, and John Nichols to attend at next Court as Jurors.

Wednesday November 2nd

At a Court called and held at Warren Courthouse in Warrenton on the 2 nd day of November 1780 for the trial of London, a Negro slave, belonging to Christopher Robertson, being brought before the Court by a warrant from under the hand of Young McLemore, Esquire, being accused of stealing from James Ball Twenty-five dollars. The said Negro London being arraigned pleaded not guilty, the said James Ball and Thomas Christmas . Evidence for the state being sworn and examined against the prisoner. The Court here are of opinion that the said Negro London is not guilty of the crime wherewith he stand charged and that he be hence discharged and that the prosecutor pay fees.

Tuesday November 15th

Daniel Vaulx being appointed by the County to collect the taxes in Capt. Fussell's and Nichol's District, entered into and executed bonds with Joseph Hawkins and William Clemmons his securities for the faithful performance thereof.
