Perro de Presa Canarios (Canary holding or gripping Dog)

Comes from the Canary Islands. The islands were actually named after the large dogs found on the islands (can=Dog). It is of a spanish orgin. It is a purebred dog recently introduced to the United States (about five years ago), so they are very rare here. Originally, the dog was produced from a crossing of Mastiffs and Bulldog, and the dogs native to the islands, one being the Bardino Majorero( native to the island of Fuerteventura, is a shepherd dog with pre-hispanic orgins). The Bardino was normally brindled, of robust built, short-haired, with strong teeth and an attractive temperment; it was not particular thick-set, but the lack of bulk was offset by it's fiery character. The cross-breeding resulted in a Powerful, Muscular, Large-boned dog especially gifted for fighting, which was outlawed, and this attributes to their fearlessness as guardians.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Presa Canario is a gentle and affectionate dog that displays great respect for its human family and is known to accept children in the home. This is a dog that will stay at it's master's side at all times and is never known to stray. It serves very well as a guard dog and is generally quite ferocious towards strangers. POLICY OF PANDATURF PRESAS:

While I usually have puppies each year, there are times when none are available, due to my only breeding one litter per year. My criteria is Quality not quantity. This includes: Two year (24 months) hip dysplasia guarantee, ear-cropping, the two initial shots & free shipping within the continental United States, or one year (12 months) hip dysplasia guarantee, no ear-cropping, two initial shots & free shipping kennel (not freight) within the continental United States. The price of these dogs reflects the rarity of the breed and my crateria. I strongly recommend to all serious buyers to reserve your puppy selection early, due to the rarity of the breed and the law of supply and demand. My Presa are currently registered with FCI (Spain), AKC & APC (U.S.A.). There is a world-wide demand for my puppies (They are usually reserved before they are whelped), for I stand behind my dogs and have confidence in what I produce, and my foundation dog is the one & only "Legendary Dual Champion Arbaco", sire of six Champion offspring, feaured in the two books and CD-ROM:
"DOGS"by David Alderton (Publisher - Dorling Kindersley)
