There are a few important things you need to know!
*Try to read as many books as you can about breastfeeding!
*Join a breastfeeding support group or the Le Leche League *Don't shy away from breastfeeding because it *seems* hard, or too much work!
You want to make sure you are well armed for any obstacles you may come across when you're first starting out.
I read anything and everything I could get my hands on. Did you know that around 60% of women begin to breastfeed while in the hospital? BUT, most give it up after a few days or weeks because of their lack of information, support, and/or small problems that could easily have been fixed or prevented with help. This brings me to the next tip...
This is so important bcause they will help you any way they can to keep your nursing relationship with your baby a positive experience. Unfortunatly, as in my case, many women do not know other breastfeeding mothers. Heck, I didn't even know of anyone who'd ever even attempted it! This is so sad. Most of us can't even go to mom or grandma for any quetions we may have.
Actually, after the initial starting up period, breastfeeding is *so* easy! You never have to sterilize bottles, make formula, pack bottles when leaving the house, or warm up a bottle in the middle of the night! All you have to do is "whip it out" (*my* favorite line), I *almost* feel guilty around bottle feeding moms - it's *that* easy!!
