Pulling up PCCI's
records, Cob owns over 300 dogs. However, most of these dogs are
living with their real owners who have not processed the necessary
documentations. One-third are deceased and a certain
percentage goes to those co-owned for reasons such as non-breeding
agreements or for showing purposes. Contrary to belief and here
says, we only maintain about a hundred. Although we may have 12
breeds at present, we don't breed all these breeds. Some are with us
meant only to be loved and cared for. Others we took in our care
simply because their owners do not have room for them anymore. We
try very much to place the right dogs with the right owners.
Presently, 50% are all retired from
the show ring and enjoying the good life that we offer. Only 10% are
non-champions. Although 80% are of breeding age, we have bitches
between the ages of 3 to 4 years old that have not been bred to date.
Equally, all Cob Dogs receive the
same amount of tender loving care irregardless whether they are still
being campaigned, retired from the show ring or were simply just meant to
be loved and never to be bred. We practice a very Selective Breeding
Program and most of the time, we keep our litters. We grow them out,
meticulously observing the different developmental stages.
All Cob Dogs are weighed twice a
month, every 2 weeks for proper administration of dietary
requirements. All are maintained flea-free, kudos to Fronline.
Kennel runs are all equipped with a mister to keep the dogs cool and fresh
in the tropical island. Aside from the annual vaccinations, dogs
needing special attention are brought regularly to Dra. Lorna Sicam's Dog
& Cat Clinic at 67 K1st Street, Kamuning, Quezon City. |
Out
of the 12 Breeds We Have @ Cob, We Specialize in the Herding Breeds,
namely the Australian Shepherd; Belgian Groenendael; Shetland
Sheepdog; and Pembroke Welsh Corgi.
We co-breed Golden
Retrievers with Care Bear Goldens and likewise still breed Chinese
Shar-pei from time to time. We show the one and only Schipperke in
the ring and the rest are our beloved pets and companions we can't
live without. |
