Kathy Austin writes about Chakotay's 3 Hole Box:
Your box has been great for developing natural quick turns in the little dogs. Anna Jean and I keep trying to convince our Lab owners to start using one of the side pockets and develop a turn to save the dogs' shoulders and speed up their runback.
This box is also quite durable compared to our old boxes. We've had it all over the place this year at demos and the one tourny. It looks great and is holding up well. The wedge boxes we used to have always get really ratty looking and need to be re-covered often.

Subject: New Box works Great!!!
I brought the flyball box into my living room at lunch time today and loaded it. Nikki walked over pushed and caught the ball first try! It fits him just right (doesn't hit him in the tummy anymore) and the ball is recessed enough that he can't dig it out. He tried to dig and couldn't get it out so he figured out he had to push to get that ball.
Anne Caplan comments:
Hey Keith-
The box arrived today, just in time for practice. It is much nicer than what we are working with currently. Caz did alot better with it. One of the people had her 5 year old son with her and he thought it was great--he opened it up--shot some balls--and did alot of experiments with it. Thank you very much for working with me on this.
Don Ferguson comments about small dogs and the box:
"Can a five pound dog trigger the flyball machine?" You bet!
I too am new to flyball but feel that I can speak to this one. We live in a part of the country where there are no flyball clubs, teams, or even another dog learning flyball. So when we decided that playing flyball would be a good source of exercise for our then four month old Toy Manchester Terrier, it meant starting from scratch. No need to go into all the 'basic training', suffice to say Shadoe was almost a year old before I built her a real flyball box. After searching as best I could, I decided to go with Keith Yockey's box plans available on the net. What I discovered was that with a very slight modification to the original plans, the trigger mechanism could be adjusted so light that even the smallest dog could easily trigger the box. I'm not suggesting that Keith's box is the only box that has an adjustable trigger mechanism, but I know it works extremely well. As far as a small dog 'team'.
Regards, Don.
Marty Siegrist writes about his new box:
Hi, Keith!
Took the flyball box on its maiden run at class tonight. Two or three of the dogs are a bit tentative with it, and I need to take some time and adjust the distance the ball goes and fiddle with the "touch" a bit. However, most of the dogs took to it without batting an eyelash, and one (surprisingly, one of the more inexperienced ones) has already started figuring out on her own that she can angle a bit toward that nice, big pedal, and save some time!
Thanks, again!
