WONDERFUL JOURNEYS

I took a journey one day
to an island with
sandy beaches
and coconut palms.

In another trip,
to an icy land,
penguins dwell,
and I walked among them.

Then there was the time
I saw mountains high
with splashing falls,
and I felt the spray.

I walked among tall,
tall, green trees,
in a forest glade,
and knew peace within.

Each journey took
an hour or so,
then I left my dreams
and went back to work.

POSTIVE ATTITUDE

Be positive, my love, the future is near,
Don't let today's trouble cause you to fear.
This moment will pass so the next may appear.
Past gives way to present until future is here.

Troubles may push you right to the ground,
But remember tomorrow will soon be around,
So pick yourself up without any sound,
Except for a prayer you sent heavenbound.

Hope for the future, when the past has been sore,
And though in the present you're terribly poor,
Just smile with good cheer, find something to do.
Your good attitude, love, will carry you through.

FEATHER AND FUR

I'm doomed to farm on suburban lot,
to my dismay it's a barnyard plot.
First came cats--we ended with two,
next, a pup, and oh, how it grew!

Beast and bird,
feather and fur--oh, how long will I endure?

Now, I thought, we're finally through,
until cockatiel joined the crew,
then some chicks (for healthier eggs),
six in all, but "never" pigs.

Beast and bird,
feather and fur--oh, how long will I endure?

An indoor dog, the next in mind,
I hoped we'd come to the end of line,
until the day of the goat pygmy,
(for milk, of course)--"The end," I plea.

Beast and bird,
feather and fur--oh, how long will I endure?

But just today, to test my pluck,
a rescued bird had good luck.
Let's not forget the fish in bowl.
They, of course, fulfill some role.

Beast and bird,
feather and fur--oh, how long will I endure?

Will someone, please, give me a farm
with lots of land and a giant barn,
before this plot burst its seams
and the yips and clucks turn to screams?

Beast and bird,
feather and fur--oh, how long will I endure?
