LIVE AND LEARN
FIRE
TREASURE
THE ANGER BEAST
FIRE
Like hungry beast a fire devours,
Its flaming breath with dragon powers.
All in its destructive path
Are consumed by terrible wrath.
When sense can tell it may appear,
Men, of course, can rightly fear.
And when its powers are in control,
They know it soon will take its toll.
Yet, bravely, men will fight for life,
To quench this foe and end the strife.
And though this beast may cause much loss,
There is some good amidst the dross.
If only suffering man will learn
That what they own may sometimes burn.
Yet, if the heart is so inclined,
Then God will make their heart refined.
If fire's destroyed all our wealth,
And nothing's left but hope and health,
Then it's time to remember Him,
Who will help us start again.
But this time with purpose new,
While we keep possessions few.
We must strive to learn again
To serve our God and fellow men.

Treasure of every kind
Man has on his mind.
Yes, he takes great pain
If it means much gain.
Love for shiny gold
Often makes him bold,
Greedy for the things
That such treasure brings.
Sometimes he hides it well
Within his fragile shell.
He has no wish to share,
Though he has much to spare.
Outside his golden fort
Are those of every sort.
They groan with need and cares,
And yet he never shares.
If he should have a dream
Of a future scene,
Where he lay in want
While other men did taunt,
Perhaps he would think twice
About his greedy life.
But would it be too late?
Would he have sealed his fate?
If he could only see
What God meant him to be,
And give his heart and soul
Into His Lord's control.
Though he gave it all away,
What joy he'd have each day.
He'd find it all replaced
When he meets God to face to face.

Anger is a crooked path
To lead the feet astray,
Thru tangled brush and thorny weeds,
To scratch the skin away.
Anger is a gruesome knife
Grinding at the heart,
It twists and turns with disregard
'Til pain cannot depart.
Anger is a ruthless foe
To tear away a slice,
To break in two who should be one
And turn the heart to ice.
Anger is a beast to fear,
In us a thing to hate.
Yet only love and prayer can kill
This cruel and woeful trait.
