He married twice. He married Barbary Sarrett Wayne Co. KY, January 23, 1837. Barbary was born 1820 Wayne Co. KY. He married Matilda J. Fearer March 11, 1866.

William Elijah Barnes and Barbary Sarrett had the following children:

+ 3 ii. Thomas Calhoun Barnes was born April 24, 1840.

+ 4 iii. John Barnes was born Abt. 1841.

5 iv. Hiram Barnes was born Abt. 1842.

6 v. Samuel Barnes was born Abt. 1844. Samuel died Abt. 1845.

7 vi. Lucinda Barnes was born Abt. 1847. She married William McGeehee Newton Co. AR, March 19, 1871.

+ 8 vii. Joshua T. Barnes was born Abt. 1849.

9 viii. Mary E. Barnes was born Kentucky Abt. 1851. She married Bill Hickman.

10 ix. Jonathan Barnes was born Kentucky Abt. 1853. He married Ira Susan Buchanan Newton Co. AR, August 18, 1874. Ira was born Abt. 1860 in Arkansas.

11 x. Martha Barnes was born in Missouri Abt. 1855. Martha died 1880 Chico, Butte Co. CA, at 25 years of age. She married James W. Buchanan in Arkansas, October 02, 1870.

12 xi. James Barnes was born in Missouri Abt. 1859.
