Soothing Heating Pads and Cold Packs


These heating bags or cold packs are made from any cotton , flannel or muslin scraps and can be filled with rice or barley. When heated for a few minutes in a microwave oven or put in the freezer they can be used to relieve stiffness, swelling, stress, or headaches.

What you'll need for the bags:


Make your grain bags any size you want, depending on your desired use.

Heating Instructions


To use, heat your bag in the microwave for about 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 minutes. May be put it in a plastic bag and store in the freezer, for those times you need a cold pack.
The rice retains heat or cold for about 20-40 minutes. .
For moist heat, mist with water before heating.
The bags can be reheated and frozen indefinitely.
