WILLSWILL OF THOMAS MINTON OF CUMBERLAND CO.VA.March 11, 1778. I Thomas Minton of Cumberland county do make my last will and testament in manner improvise:I give my mother Mary Minton, one sorrell mare during her life and the increase to my brother Joseph Minton. The colts also I give to my mother. I give five head of sheep and their increase and after her death when she thinks fit and one shaft. ITEM: I give to my sisters one hundred pounds now at interest in trust in the hands of Robert Douglas now of the county aforesaid which is to be equally divided between my sisters here mentioned. ITEM: I give to my sister Mary Minton 25 pounds and its interest when she married or comes of age. ITEM: I give to my sister Elizabeth Minton 25 pounds and its interest. ITEM: I give to my sister Nancy Minton 25 pounds and its interest, when she comes of age or marries. ITEM: I give to my sister Beccy Minton 25 pounds and its interest when she comes of age or marries. ITEM: I give to my brother Joseph Minton the hole of my shoemakers tools when he is caoable of using them, and I forgot to mention my brother Simon Minton, it is my will and desire that my two brothers Joseph Minton and Simon Minton should have the increase of the mare above given to my brother Joseph Minton, equally divided between my two brothers above mentioned and if any of my sisters should die before they come of age or die without lawful heir that their legacies above given to them to be equally divided among the survivors, lastly I do appoint Simon Hughes executor of this my last will and testament witness my hand and seal this eleventh day of March one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight.
