proprietor of Sippican (Rochester, MA) along with wifes
aunt, Elizabeth (Freeman) Ellis... "The Memorial of the
Family of Thomas and Dorothy Burgess" (1865) and other
printed accounts confine their identification to the dau. of
Joseph and Patience Burgess to the designations given in his will.
But Rebecca, b. 17 Jan 1667/8 [Sandwich Vital Records; Mayflower
Descendant 14:171], m. ca 1692 Edward Rose (not Ross); and
Dorothy, b. 12 Nov 1670, m. ca 1689, Savery Clifton and had a
number of children per Rochester Vital Records. Proof via deed 16
Mar 1714/5 "Wee... being the children of Joseph Burge of sd
Rochester, late deceased... (relinquish our rights)... which our
father by his last will and Testament... approved... ye 3 day of
Oct. 1695 gave unto our brother Benjamin Burge unto his heirs...
