To all &c Whereas &c Now know yee that I the Said Sr. WM. BERKLEY &c give and grant unto STEPHEN GILL Eleven hundred and fifty acres of land lying on the North Side of Yorke river up Rosewell Creek in the County of Yorke bounded vizt part thereof being a Neck of Land bounded within the Maine branches of the said Creeke & the rest South Easterly upon a pocoson Northerly into the woods Southerly upon the Land of Mr. GOUCH and Westerly upon a former Devidant of the said GILLs the Said Land being due unto the Said STEPHEN GILL by and for the transporta. of twenty and three persons into the Colony &c to have & to hold Yeilding &c which paytment is to be made seven years after the date hereof &c Dated ye 30th of April 1649. To all &c whereas &c now Know ye that I the said Sir WILLIAM BERKELEY Knight Governor &c give and grant unto THOMAS HOLLOWELL Four hundred and fifty acres of Land bounded as followeth Viz Three hundred Acres thereof being a Neck of Land lying on the Western branch of Elizabeth River bounded with broad Creeke on the South West and a branch of the said Creek called the sedgy branch on the North East and runing One hundred and seventy five Chains into the Woods to a reedy swamp which twarts the said Creeke, being a branch of the Western branch of Elizabeth River Beginning at a Marked Pine and so runing for breath North East seventy five poles to a marked whit oak butting on the Land of RICHARD JONES and to length North West three hundred and twenty poles to a marked Gum, and again for breath south West seventy five poles to a marked tree buttin on the Land of the said HOLLAWAY and so again for Length South East three hundred and twenty poles Joining to the saiid HOLLOWAY's Land to the first mentioned marked tree including or bounding the said Quantity of Land. The said Land being due unto the said HOLLOWAY as followeth Vizt. Three hundred Acres part thereof being formerly formerly (sic) granted unto the said HOLLOWAY by patent dated the Eleventh of January one thousand six hundred and fifty two and one hundred & fifty acres the residue being due by and for the transportation of three Persons &c To Have and To Hold &c To be Held &c yeilding & paying &c provided &c Dated the Eighteenth of March One thousand six hundred and sixty two. To all &c Whereas &c Know yee that I the said Sr. Henry Chickoby Knt. Depty. Governor &c give and Grant unto THOMAS HOLLOWELL Senr. Six hundred thirty & foure acres of land lying on the northern side of the Western branch of Elizabeth river in the Colony of Lower Norffk. Beginning at a marked pine upon broad Creeks and runing by the Creeke West by North fifty eight po. Thence on the said Creeke run west sixty foure po. Thence on the said Creeke north west by west fifty seven po. Thence on ye said Creeke west north west ½ w.ly one hundred thirty six poles by reedy swamp branch running out of the said Creekd to a marked red oake by the said branch side thence north 1/4 wly eighty po. on the said branch thence north west by north fifty two po. thence on the said branch west 1/4 sly seventy poles to a maked pine, thence north one hudnred & sixty poles by marked tree through a pocoson to a white gun, thence East one hundred forty two po. by marked tree through pocosson to a poplar thence south east eighty po. to a maple th: East North East 1/4 N:ly twenty foure po. to a white oake in his old line, thence South East halfe Ely two hundred eighty two poles to ye land wch was RICHARD JONES, thence bounding on the said JONES his land south south west one hundred ninety & eight po. to the first stateion. Foure hundred and fifty acres acres of the said land being formerly granted to the said THOMAS HOLLOWELL by Pattent bearding Date ye 18th of March 1662, the remainder being due by for the transportation of foure persons into this Colony &c To have & to hold &c To ___ ___ &c ___ & paying &c Provided &c Dated the twnty seventh day of September one thousand six hundred & Eighty. To all those people to whom these presents shall come know yee that I JOSEPH HOLLOWELL of the county of Norfolk in Virginia planter for very good cause __ thereunto knowing that now __ for a valuable sum of tobac. to mee in hand paid the ___ ___ I doe hereby acknowledge have ___ given granted bargained sold alientated ___ and confirmed and by these presents doe sell and make over unto THOMAS BRENT of the said county aforesaid and to his heirs for ever one tract or parcel of land lying in the woods from the head of the Southern Brnach of Elizabeth River beginning at a market poplar standing by the white oake swamp being BENJAMIN HOLLOWELLs corner __ running south south west twenty poles then east south east one hundred and thirty two poles thence north north east twenty poles to a __ thence one hundred twenty two poles too the forks __ being by estimation eighty five acres more or less together ___ all ___ priveleges and advantages whatsoever thereunto belonging the same to have and to hold to him the said THOMAS BRENT and to his heirs executors __ or assigns for ever and the above said JOSEPH HOLLOWELL does & furthe covenants and binds himself his heirs & in the sum of five thousand pounds of loyall __ and ___ payable to the above said BRENT on order __ demand that the said land is cleare and free from all incumbrances whatsoever and that the said THOMAS BRENT his heirs Executors shall __ may at all times hereunto and for ever peaceable have __ occupie possess and injury the aforesaid 25 acres of land more or less without the sett hinderance or __ of mee or from any claiming by from or __ and of me or from any person or persons whatsoever In witness whereof I the above said JOSEPH HOLLOWELL hereunto sett my hand and seal this 29th day of September 1692. Bee it known unto all men by these presents that I BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL of the County of Lower Norfolk doe hereby these presents __ grant bargain ___ and ___ and by these presents have absolutely __ granted sold alienated and enfeoffed to JOSEPH HOLLOWELL of the same Conty hereby executed ___ ___ foure hundred and eightie acres of land lying and being situated beginning three hundred poles from the poplar standing by the said White Oake Swamp __ parting the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL and MOSES PRESCOTT running west north west then running fom that said line south by south west hundred and eightie polles binding upon the said Swamp to a marked hollie the exact whole extent of foure hundred and eightie acres of land then West ___ by ___ extent of the land then running nor/East by east __ easterly to the land of the said PRESCOTT the said land being granted unto the said BENJA. HOLLOWELL by virtue of a pattent dated the twentieth seventh of April in the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred and eightie and six to have and to hold the sd land ___ a right and ___ got ___ whatsoever unto the sd JOSEPH HOLLOWELL for him also his heirs ___ assigns shall not hinder nor molest at any time the sd JOSEPH HOLLOWELL __ the said JOSEPH being from time to time as at all times ___ peaceably and quietly __ and possess the aforesaid land as it is above expressed from all manor of trouble and molestation of any person or persons __ __ that can or may lay any claims rits or __ or __ to the aforesaid land as witness my hand and seales the said JOSEPH HOLLOWELL to pay the Kings quitt rent for the said land in witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seal this 19th day of March 1699. To all to whome these presants shall come Know yee that I BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL for Divers good Considerations wee ____ and In performance to an order of the County Court of Lower Norfolk Sold dated the 5th(?) day of Jan (?) 1697 I have bargained alienated sold enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents doth bargain alienate sell enfeoffe and confirm unto MOSES PRESCOTT of the county aforesd. two hundred acres of Land Situate Lying and being in ye woods from wards(?) the head of the Southern branch of Elizabeth river and being part of a pattent of one thousand and thirty acres granted me the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL bounded as followeth beginning att a white oake the first corner ___ of the sayd patten and running east soth east by _____ one hundred and 10 poles to a poplar by the white oake swamp side and thence running southwest three hundred poles along the sayd white oake swamp to a white gum marked by consent of all parties thereby sd row of marked trees west North west one hundred & 10 poles thence NNE to the first station to have and to hold the sayd two hundred acres of Land with all the rights priviledges and whatsoever. To hand the sayd MOSES PRESCOTT his heirs and assigns forever from me the sayd BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL my heirs Executors with warranty of sale against any person or persons & that the sayd Land is free from all Gifts Grants Rights and bils of dowers and any incumbrances whatsoever and that the sayd MOSES PRESCOTT his heirs &c shall quietly hold use occupy and enjoy the said two hundred acres of land with priviledges aforesays without any trouble perturbance or molestation whatsoever with out from me or any one from and to me & hee the sayd MOSES PRESCOTT his heirs & assigns paying the quitt rents for ye sayd two hundred acres of land with privileges. Know all men by these presents that I JOSEPH HOLLOWELL being of the County of Lower Norfolk in Virginia carpenter have for and in consideration of the sume of __ and twenty hundred pounds of Good __ __ to have afsd Cash to me in hand paid __ ___ on Elizabeth River by THOMAS BRENT of the County afore said turnor? the receipt whereof I the Said JOSEPH HOLLOWELL does heare by Acknowledge have granted bargained sold and transfered and by these presents doe grant bargain sell and transfer unto the aforesaid THOMAS BRENT a piece of wood land containing an estimated hundred and fifty acres be it more or less lying and being ___ the north west River in the County afore said and belonging to a tract of land of one thousand and thirty acres by patent granted BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL and ___ of a parcel of four hundred and eighty acres belonging to ___ ____ in __ ___ sold by the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL to the afore said JOSEPH HOLLOWELL and bounding the following (vizt) Beginning at the east south east corner of MOSES PRESCOTT's land and soo running south & south east twenty poles to a Black gum thence south south & west a quarter southly to a marked pine standing by the red oak branch thence __ __ & west by the branch side to the ___ of the land for the aforesd __ of land afsd all priveledges and imunities whatsoever to ye afore said hundred and fifty acres of land belonging or __ ___ to have and to hold the afore said one hundred and fifty acres of land and all and singular the priviledges and immunities as aforesaid unto the said THOMAS BRENT his heirs Exrs admin and assigns for ever and I the said JOSEPH HOLLOWELL for my self my heirs Exrs & adms. and for Ever _ of us doo covenant grant & __ and __ & the said THOMAS BRENT his Exrs. Admins. and assigns by these presents that att the sealing and delivery heareof that I am ___ and lawfull means of the afore said land and that I have full power to grant sell and assign the same as aforesaid and ___ this the aforementioned land and premises __ __ and __ from hereto forth shall __ remaine __ and __ __ the said THOMAS BRENT his heirs Exrs ___ free cleare and clearly acquitted exonorated and discharged of __ from sale and all manor of __ and other gifts grants bargains __ his __ or assigns shall and may lawfully att all times heareafter peacibly and quietly have hold __ __ enjoy the above said land __ __ molestation or __ __ of or from me the sd JOSEPH HOLLOWELL my heirs exrs or adms or from any other person or persons whatsoever and lastly that I the aforesaid JOSEPH HOLLOWELL for my self my heirs Exrs and adms. doo covenant promise and grant that the said JOSEPH HOLLOWELL my heirs Exrs and Adms the above said land contained __ __ the above said bounds and ___ there unto be __ unto the aforesaid THOMAS BRENT his heirs Exrs Adms and assigns against all persons whatsoever shall & will warrnat and forever defend __ __ In witness whreof I the aforesaid JOSEPH HOLLOWELL have hereunto sett my hand and seale this _____JOSEPH HOLLOWELL. This Indenture made and Indented this fourteenth day of March in ye year of our Lord Christ one thousand Seven Hundred and Twenty & two & in ye Ninth year of ye reigne of our Sovereign Lord George by ye grace of God over great Brittain &c King defender of ye faith Between BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL Son and Heir of BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL decd of Pamplico in North Carolina of ye one part & ROBERT STEWART of Norfolk County Virga. of ye other part is Witnesseth that ye Said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL for and in consideration of ye Sum of five Shillings lawful money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the Said ROBERT STEWART whereof he doeth by these presents acknowledge ye receipt hath bargained and Sold and by these presents doth bargain and Sell unto ye Said ROBERT STEWART his Exetrs Admrs and Assignes all that mussuage tenement and plantation of land with ye wood land admoining thereto being ye plantation that BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL died Siezed of and Liveth upon when in life and which residue or remaining part of a pattent that ___ granted ye Said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL deceased by his Exccy. Lord HOWARD BARON of Effingham & bearing date the 27th day of April 1686 and lineally decended to the sd BENJAMIN by ye deaths of his Eldest Brother THOMAS HOLLOWELL son and heir apparent to BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL decd which sd Land is Situate Lying and being in the Southern Branch of Elizabeth River Norfolk County Near ye Northwest River ye quantity being by Estimation two Hundred acres be ye Same more or be it less according to ye most antient known and reputed bounds thereof as by the Said Pattent Record there to being had will further demonstrate To have & to hold ye sd messuage tenement plantation and wood lands adjoining thereto as afd. with all and any ye appurtenances Known or reputed to be part or number thereof with ye reversion & reversions & remainder and remainders thereof from ye day Next before ye date hereof for and during ye term of one whole year from thence Next Ensuing to ye Intent that by Virtue thereof & of ye Statute for transferring uses into possession ye Said ROBERT STEWART might be in ye actuall possession thereto & be enabled to take and Except of a grant and Release of Same premises to him his heirs & assigns forever In Witness whereof ye Said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL hath here unto Subscribed his name and Affixed his Seale ye day and year first above Written. This Indenture made and Indented this 20th day of September in ye year of our Lord one thousand Seven Hundred and Twenty & two Between BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL of Norfolk County Son and Heire of BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL, decd of ye one part & ROBERT STEWART of ye same County of ye other part Witnesseth that ye sd BENJMN. HOLLOWELL for and in Consideration of ye Sum of five Shillings Lawful money of Virga. to him in hand paid unto ye ROBERT STEWART the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath bargained and Sold and doth by these presents bargaine and Sell unto ye Said ROBERT STUART his Excrs. Admnrs. Assigns and Heirs hundred acres of wood land Situate lying and being in ye Southern Branch precinct & County of Norfolk Near ye Northwest River and in part is bounded as followeth Beginning at ye Said STEWARTs one land & so running upon ye line of land formerly belonging to JOSEPH HOLLOWELL, dec'd.. to ye main road or ye head of ye Said Land then to run from ye sd line & to bound on ye Said STUARTs land to a deep Branch & then up the Said Branch till it Comes opposite agst an old field and then to Cross ye Said Branch & to run a Length by ye sd old field to ye maine Road or outward bounds of ye Said Land to Compleate ye Said Hundred Acres being to be fullfiled out of ye pattent granted BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL, SENR., decd bareing date of 27th day of Aprill 1686 and Lineally descended to ye sd BENJAMIN by the death of his father and Brother THOS. and alone ye River rim and reversions and remainder & remainders thereof To have and to hold of ye Said Hundred accres of land here tenements & forgiveness of ye appertenances unto ye Said ROBERT STEWART his Exrs. Admrs. & Assigns from ye day next before ye date hereof unto ye and terme of one whole year fully to be completed & Signed to ye Intent that by Virtue thereof and of ye Statuate for transferring was into possession of Said ROBERT STEUART might be in ye naturall possession thereof and be unable to take & accept of a grant and release of ye Same premises to him and his heirs forever In Witness whereof ye Sd BENJMN. This Indenture made and Indented this 21st day of September in ye year of our lord one thousand seven Hundred and Twenty Two Between BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL of Norfolk County Son and heire of BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL decd of ye one partie & ROBERT STEWART of ye Same County of ye other partie Whereas ye said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL by Indenture bearing date the twenthieth day of this Instant month of September for ye Consideration therein Expressed did Bargaine and Sell unto ye Said ROBERT STEWART one Hundred acres of wood land Situate lying and being in the Southerne Branch precinct & County of Norfolk near the North West River in part is bounded as followeth Beginning at ye sd STEWARTs one land and So running upon ye line of the land formerly belonging to JOSEPH HOLLOWELL Decd to ye maine road or ye head of ye Said land and then to run from ye Said line and so bounded on ye Said STEWART Land to a Deep Branch then up ye Said Branch till it comes opposite agst an old field and then to Cross the Said Branch and to run along it by ye Said field to ye maine Road or outwards bounds of ye said land to Complete the Said Hundred acres is fulfilled out of ye pattent and grant BENJ. HOLLOWELL, SENR. deed Baring date ye 27th day of Aprill 1686 and Lineally decended to ye Said BENJ. by ye death of his father and Brother THOS. To have and to hold ye sd. Hundred Acres of land unto ye Said ROBERT STUART his Exrs. Admrs. and Assignes from ye day month before ye date hereof forward during ye terme of one whole year from thence Next Insueing to ye Intent that by virtue therof ye Statute & for transferring note into paymt from ye Sd ROBERT STUARTs right being ye actuall possession thereof and be enabled to take & regret of a grant and retake of ye Same premesis to him his heirs and Assigns forever as by ye Recited Indenture will further make appear Now this Indenture Witnesseth that ye sd BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL for and in Consideration of ye sum of Twenty pounds lawfull money of Virga. to him in hand paid by ye said ROBERT STUART ye receipt whereof he doth acknowledge and by these presents doth Exconerate recquite and discharge the Said ROBERT STUART from Every part and parcell thereof and himself therewith fully Satisfied Contented & paid hath granted remissed Released and Confirmed and by these presents to the grant remiss Release and Confim unto ye Said ROBERT STUART in his actuall possession and being by Virtue of ye Said Recited Indenture of bargaine and Sale made to him of ___ of ye Satatute & to his heirs and assigns ye aforesd land tennement Hereditment & premises with ye appurtonances & all ye Estate right to his Interest Claim and demand whatsoever of ye said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL of in and to ye Same and every part thereof and the reversion and reversions remainder and Remainders thereof and of every part thereof To have & to hold the sd land tenements Heraditaments and premises with ye appurtenances unto ye Said ROBERT STUART his heirs and Assigns Shall and may from time to time and att all time for ever hereafter peacably and quietly have hold and enjoy ye sd land tenement and premises with ye appurtenances before hereinment mentoned or Intended to be granted without any trouble lett interruption Eviction & mollestation from ye said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL his heirs &c or from any other person or persons whatsoever Claiming or lawfully pretending to Claim any right title or interst in or to all or any part or parcell of ye said bargained premises ye sd BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL his heirs &c Shall and will forever herafter warrnat & defend ye sd ROBT. STEWART his heirs &c in an absolute and Indefeasable Estate of Inheritance in and to ye sd bargained premises in Conformation whereof ye Said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL hath hereunto subscribed his name and affixed his Seal ye day and year first above Written. This indenture made the twenty sixth day of May in the twelveth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Brittain, France, Ireland King Defender of the Faith &c and the year of Our Lord God one thousand seven hundred thirty nine Between JAMES TOOK SCOTT of the County of Isle of Wight on the one part and WILLIAM HOLLOWELL of the same County on the other part. Witnesseth that whereby the said JAMES TOOK SCOTT by an Indenture bearing date the day before the Date hereof for a consideration therein expressed hath Devised Leased Granted and to farm lenden unto the said WILLIAM HOLLOWELL a Certain tract or parcel of Land Containing in the whole one hundred acres according to these __ for trans___ uses into possession and bounded as in the said ___ indenture as expressed. Now this Indenture Witnesseth that I the said JAMES TOOK SCOTT of and in Consideration of the Sum of twenty pounds Curet. money of Virginia to him in hand paid the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and thereof and of every part and parcel thereof doth hereby likewise acquit Exonerate and discharge the said WILLIAM HOLLOWELL his heirs Asigns: and Admors: by these presents hath Granted bargained Sold Infeofed Released and Confirmed and by these presents doth Grant.... This indenture made the thirteenth day of Jan in ye year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & forth & forty one between JOHN HOLLOWELL, son & heir of LUKE HOLLOWELL formerly of Norfolk Co., in Virg. Son of THOS. HOLLOWELL of the county & place aforesaid, dec'd, and now of the precinct of Perquimans, North Carolina of the one part and THOMAS SCOTT, SENR. of Norfolk County in Virga. of the other part. Witnesseth that the sd JOHN HOLLOWELL for and in consideration of the sum five __ current money of Virga. To him in hand paid by the sd THOS. SCOTT the rect. Thereof the sd JOHN HOLLOWELL do hereby ack. Have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain and sell unto the said THOS. SCOTT all that tract or parcell of land herein mentioned and situate lying & being on the south side of the Western Branch of Eliz. River in Norfolk County beginning at the mouth of a cove or gutt joyning on Col. WM. CRAFFORDs line running North eighty four degrees East to a corner pine & so bound on Col. CRAFFORDs line to the head of the sd land containing seventy acres more or less according to THOS. HOLLOWELL dec'd will dated the 16 day of June 1693 being part of a deed of two hundred acres more or less given by the sd THOS. HOLLOWELL dec'd to his son LUKE HOLLOWELL & now in actual possession of JOHN HOLLOWELL son & heir of LUKE HOLLOWELL, dec'd. The reservation & reservations remainder & remainders together with all the rents & profits of the premises & of every part and parcell thereof To have and to hold the sd land & appurtenances & all other the premises herein mentioned & intended to be hereby granted and barg'd & sold unto the abovesd THOS. SCOTT his Exrs & assigns from the day before the date of these presents for and during six months from thence next __ & fully to be complete & ended to the end that by virtue of these presents & of the statute for transferring over unto possession ye sd THOS. This Indenture made and Indented the Twenty first day of January in theyear of our Lord God one thousand Seven hundred and Forty Seven/8 in the 21st year of the Reing of our Sovereign Lord George the Second King of Great Brittain and Between ABSALOM HOLLYWELL & SARAH his mother of the Western Branch of Norfolk County the one parties and JAMES SIMPSON of Liverpoole Shipright now living at Church Point of the Western Branch of Norfolk County the other party. To all Christian people to whom these presents shall come Greeting Know ye that I JOHN HOLLOWELL of Norfolk County in Virginia for & in consideration of the sum of six pounds current money of Virginia to me in hand paid by DANIEL ROGERSON of the County of Perquimans in the Province of North Carolina the receipt of which I do hereby acknowledge & myself to be therewith fully satisfied & paid have given granted bargained & sold conveyed & confirmed & do by these presents freely clearly & absolutely give grant bargain sell convey & confirm to him the said DANIEL ROGERSON to him his heirs & assigns forever a certain messuage or part of a tract of land lying in Perquimans County on the South west side of Perquimans River beginning at TIMOTHY LILLEY his corner tree thence running a Northerly course to a certain parcel of ponds thence to the dividing line between this & THOMAS LILLEY his land thence East to the corner tree thence South along JACOB PERRY his line to TIMOTHY LILLEY his line & along his line to the first station being in contents by computation two hundred acres be ye same more or less it being butted & bounded as aforesd. To have & to hold the said land with all & singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging to him the said DANIEL ROGERSON to him his heirs & assigns forever in as full & ample manner to all intents & Purposes as lands is held by deeds in Carolina which said land was & is part of a tract of land granted to THOMAS BLICHENTON by a patent bearing date July the 14th 1725 sold by the said BLICHENTON to EDMUND HOLLOWELL & given by the said HOLLOWELL to JOHN BACON & he being dead the land falls to me by heirship & I the said JOHN HOLLOWELL do further warrant & bind myself my heirs Exers admrs & every one of them firmly by these presents forever to warrant & defend the said DANIEL ROGERSON his heirs Exers adms & assigns in quiet & peaceable possession of all & singular the granted & bargained premises with the appurtenances thereunto belonging for the said DANIEL ROGERSON paying all rear quit rents due on the said land then I warrant it from the lawful claim of any person or persons whatsoever. This Indenture made the Fourteenth day of November in the year of our Lord God one thousand and Seven hundred and Forty Nine Between HALSTEAD HOLLOWELL of Norfolk County in the Colony of Virginia of the one part and RICHARD GRANGER of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that the said HALSTEAD HOLLOWELL for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings Curt. Money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said RICHD. GRANGER the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge Hath Bargained & sold and by these presents doth Bargain and sell unto the said RICHARD GRANGER one Certain piece or Lot of Ground Lying in the County aforesaid Near the Great Bridge & being the Land formerly belonging to the said HALSTEAD's Father BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL Joining to a piece of Land now belonging to JAMES TAYLOR and on the Main Road Fifty feet on the said Road and Sixty feet in Length back from the Road to the pocosson for Fifty feet in Breadth and sixty feet in Length with Reversion and Reversions of the said Land ____ and premisses with the appurtenances To have and to hold the said Land Tennaments and premisses unto the said RICHARD GRANGER his heirs Exors & Admrs and assigns for and induring the Term of one Whole Year Next Evening this date hereof the the Intent there by Virtue thereof and of the Statute for Transferring Uses into possession the said RICHARD GRANGER or any Wise the actual In possession thereof and be Enabled to take & Accept & Grant & & ___ of the same premises to him his heirs & assigns forever. Witnesseth that the said HALSTEAD HOLLOWELL by Indenture bearing date the day before the date hereof did Bargain and sell unto the said RICHARD GRANGER his Exrs. Admr. and assigns one Certain Tract or lot of Ground Lying in the County aforesaid Near the Great Bridge being the Land formerly belonging to the said HALSTEAD's Father BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL joining to a ___ of Ground now belonging to JAS. TAYLOR on the Main Road fifty foot on the Road and sixty foot in length Back from the Road to the pocosson for Fifty foot in Breadth and Sixty foot in Length to him the said JAMES TAYLOR (?) To have and to hold for and Induring the Term of one Whole Year &c an by the sd Rental Indenture more at large appeareth Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said HALSTEAD HOLLOWELL for and in Consideration of the sum of six pounds Virginia Currency to him in hand paid by ye said RICHARD GRANGER the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and doth hereby Acquit and Discharge the said RICHARD GRANGER from Every Part and Parcele thereof and of the Sum of five shillings in the said rented Indenture Hath Granted Bargained released & Confirmed and doth by these presents Grant ___, Release and Confirm unto the said RICHARD GRANGER in his actual possession now being by Virtue of the said Rented Indenture to him made of a year and of the ___ and to his heirs and assigns the aforesaid Land Tennements Heriditaments and premisses with appurtenances and all the Estate, rights title claim interest and ____ whatsoever of the said HALSTEAD HOLLOWELL in and to the same and of every part thereof To have & to hold the said Land Tennements Hereditaments and premesses with appurtenances unto the said RICHARD GRANGER his heirs & assigns forever and the said HALSTEAD HOLLOWELL for him self his heirs &c doth by these presents covenant and Grant to and with the said RICHARD GRANGER his heirs and assigns in Manner and Form following Thats to say that the said RICHARD GRANGER his heirs and assigns shall and may from time to time and at all times forever hereafter peaceably and Quietly have hold & occupy the aforesaid Land Tennements and Premisses with the appurtenances before herein mentioned to be Granted without any __Molestation or interruption of the said HALSTEAD HOLLOWELL his heirs or of or from any other person or persons whatsoever having or Lawfully Claiming to have any Estate Right title Claim or Demand in and to the same forever Warrant and Defend the said RICHARD GRANGER his heirs and assigns in a good and absolute Title in Fee Simple and in Conformation hereof the said HALSTEAD HOLLOWELL hath hereunto set his hand and Seal the day and Year above Written. This Indenture made the Eighteenth day of June in the Year of our Lord God One thousand Seven hundred and Fifty Between HALSTEAD HOLLOWELL and MARY ANNE his Wife both of Norfolk County in the Colony of Virginia of the one parties and EADEN FULFORD of the other part Witnesseth that the said HALSTEAD HOLLOWAY and MARY ANN his Wife for and in consideration of the Sum of five shillings Currt. Money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said EADEN FULFORD the Receipt whereof they doth hereby acknowledge Hath Bargained and Sold and by these presents doth Bargain and Sell unto the said EADEN FULFORD one Certain Tract or Parcell of Land Containing one hundred acres being a place commonly called the Hollowing Point Joining on a Creek Called Holloways Creek and the North West River and also on a Little Creek that runs out of the said North West River which parts Hollowing point and a place Called Thick Neck so Entering up in the Woods to make the said Hundred acres which said Land is Situate in Norfolk County with the Reversion and Reversions of the said Land Hereditaments and Premisses with the appurtances To have and to hold the said Land Tennement and Premesses unto the said EADEN FULFORD his Heirs Exors. And Assigns for and Enduring the Term of one Whole Year next En___ the date hereof to the Intent that by Virtue thereof and of the Statute for Transfering Uses unto possession the said EADEN FULFORD may be in the actual possession thereof and be Enabled to take and accept of a Grant and released of the same premisses to him his Heirs & assigns forever. This Indenture made the Nineteenth day of June in the Year of our Lord God one thousand Seven hundred and Fifty Between HALSTEAD HOLLOWAY and MARY ANN his wife of Norfolk County in the Colony of Virginia of the one parties and EADEN FULFORD of the same place of the other partie Whereas the said HALSTEAD HOLLOWAY and his Wife by Indenture bearing date the day before the date thereof did Bargain and sell unto the said EADEN FULFORD his heirs Executors Administrators and assigns one parcell or Tract of Land Containing One Hundred Acres being at a Place Commonly Called Hollowing Point Joining on a Creek Called Holoways Creek and the North West River and also on a Little Creek that Runs out of the said North West River which parts Hollowing Point and a place called Thick Nect so to Entered up in the Woods so that it may include One hundred acres which said land is Situate in Norfolk County to him the said EADEN FULFORD to have and to hold for and Induring the Terms of one Whole Year &c as by the said Rented Indenture made as __ appeareth Now This Indenture Witnesseth that the said HALSTEAD HOLLOWAY and his Wife for and in Consideration fo the Sum of Twenty Five Pounds Curt. This Indenture made the Twentieth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven Hundred and fifty seven between JOSIAS SLACK of the County fo Norfolk in the Colony of Virginia of the one part and HALSTEAD HOLLOWELL of the same County and Colony of the other part. Witnesseth that the said JOSIAS SLACK for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings Current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said HALSTEAD HOLLOWELL at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath Granted Bargained and sold and by these presents doth Grant Bargain and sell unto the said HALSTEAD HOLLOWELL one Certain piece or parcell of Land situate in the aforesaid County Containing forty acres more or less being a piece of land that ELIZABETH SLACK bought of WILLIS PERSONS and left by will to her son JOSIAS SLACK Beginning at the head Line of the said Issue of Land that WILLIS PERSONS bought of THOMAS LANGLEY and so running down the said Land or the Tract of Land is bounded unto a ___ called the ___ and that ran through SLACKs lines ____ SUGG new lines and so running up the said Trees unto LANGLEY's Land then bounded on the said Land upwards untill it comes on JOHN WILKINS line so bounded on the Line unto the first hand Line to him the said HALSTEAD HOLLOWELL and all houses buildings orchards ways waters water courses ___ Commodities Hereditaments & appurtenances whatsoever to the said premeses hereby granted or any part thereof belonging or in any wise appurtaining and the Reversion and Reversions remainder & remainders and rents Issues and Profits thereof To have and to hold the said forty acres of land more or less and all and singular other the premesses hereby granted with the appurtenances unto the said HALSTEAD HOLLOWELL his heirs executors administrators and assigns from the day before the date whereof for and during the full term & time of one whole year from thence ___ ___ fully to be complete and ended Yielding and paying therefore the rent of one pepper corn on Lady day next if the same should be lawfully Demanded to the Intent and purposes that by Virtue of these presents and of the Statutes for transferring Uses unto possession the said HALSTEAD HOLLOWELL his heirs or assigns that may be in actual possession of the premises and be thereby enabled to ___ and take Grant ___ of the ___ and ____ thereof to him and his Heirs. This Indenture made the fourteenth day of August in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & fifty seven Between ELIZABETH THELABALL of the County of Norfolk in the Colony of Virginia of the other part & HOLSTEAD HOLLOWELL of the same County & Colony of the part. Witnesseth that the sd. HOLSTEAD HOLLOWELL for and in Consideration of the Sum of five shillings Curt. SWENY by deed of Bargain & sale recorded in Norfolk Court the seventeenth day of September one thousand seven hundred & forty two and all houses Buildings Orchards Ways Waters Water Courses Profits Commodities hereditaments and Appurtenances whatsoever to the sd premises hereby Granted or any part thereof belonging or in any wise appurtaining & the reversion & Reversions Remainder & remainders Rents Issues & Profits thereof To have and to hold the sd hundred Acres of Land more or less & all & singular other ___ hereby Granted with the Appurtenances unto the sd HOLSTEAD HOLLOWELL his heirs Execurs Admrs and Assigns from the day before the Date hereof for & during the full Terms & time of one whole year from thence now ensuing fully to be compleat & Ended. Yeilding & praying therefore the Rent of one Pepper Corn on Lady Day Next if the same shall be lawfully demanded to the Intent & purpose that by Virtue of these presents & of the Statute for transferringthereunto possession the sd. HOLSTEAD HOLLOWELL his heirs or Assigns &c maybe in actual Possession of the premisses &c thereby enabled to accept & take a Grant & Release of the Reversion and Inheritance thereof to his heirs. This Indenture made the fifteenth day of August in the Year of our Lord 1757 between ELIZA. THELABALL of the County of Norfolk in the Colony of Virginia of the other part & HOLSTEAD HOLLOWELL of the same place of the other Part. Witnesseth that for & in consideration of the Sum of thirty six Pound Curt. Money of Virginia to the sd. ELIZA. THELABALL in hand paid by the HOLSTEAD HOLLOWELL at or before the Sealing & delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof she doth acknowledge and thereof doth endorse requit and discharge the sd HOLSTEAD HOLLOWELL his Exrs & Administrators by these presents the sd ELIZA THELABALL hath granted Bargained Sold aliend Released & Confirmed and by these presents doth Grant, Bargain Sell alien Release & Confirm unto the sd HOLSTEAD HOLLOWELL in his actual possession now being by Virtue of a Bargain and Sale to him thereof made by the sd ELIZA THELABALL for one whole Year by Indenture bearing date the day next before the day & the date of these presents and by force of the Statute for transferring Uses into possession and his heirs & Assigns all these lands of Land containing one hundred Acres more or less lying & being on the Northwest River in the County of Norfolk aforesaid according to the most known ancient Reputed Bound thereof Purchased by the sd ELIZA. THELABALL from SAMUEL SWENY by deed of Bargain & Sale recorded in Norfolk Court the seventeenth day of September one thousand seven hundred & forty two and all Houses, Buildings Orchards Ways Water Courses Profits Commodities Hereditaments & Appurtenances whatsoever to the sd premisses hereby Granted or any part thereof belonging or in any wise appurtaining & the Reversion & Reversions, Remainder & Remainders, Rents, Issues, & profits thereof and also all the Estate Right, Title, Interest, Use, Trust, Property, Claim & Demand whatsoever of th sd ELIZA THELABALL of in & to the sd premises & all Deeds Evidenced & Writings the thing or in any wise concerning the same. To have and to hold the said hundred acres of Land more or less & all & singular other the premisses hereby Granted & released & every part Parcel thereof with their & every of their appurtenances unto the sd HOLSTEAD HOLLOWELL heirs & Assigns for ever to the only proper Use & Behoof of his the sd HOLSTD. HOLLOWELL & of his heirs & Assigns forever. And the sd. ELIZA THELABALL her heirs Exrs and Administrators Covenant promise & Grant to and with the sd HOLSTD. HOLLOWELL his heirs & Assigns by these presents that the sd HOLSTD. HOLLOWELL now at this Time of Sealing & delivering of these presents is seised of a good sure perfect & indefeazible Estate of Inheritance in Fee Simple of & in the premisses hereby granted & released & that she hath good power and lawfull & absolute Authority to grant & Convey the same to the sd. HOLSTD. HOLLOWELL & his heirs in Manner & form aforesd & that the sd premisses now are & so forever hereafter shall remain & be free & Clear of & from all former & other Gifts, Grants, Bargains, Sales, Dower Right & Title of Dower, Judgements, Executions, Title, Troubles, Charges & Incumbrances whatsoever made, done, committed or suffered by the sd ELIZA. THELABALL or any other person or persons whatsoever the quit Rents hereafter to grow due & payable to our Sovereign Lord the King his heirs & successors for & in respect of the sd premisses only Excepted & fore____ and Lastly that the sd HOLSTD. This Indenture made this the 25th day of September in the Year of our Lord God 1762 in the Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third of Great Britain, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith &c Between THOMAS HOLLOWELL of Northampton County in the Province of North Carolina of the one Part, and JOHN HOLLOWELL of Norfolk County in Virginia the other Part. Witnesseth that the said THOMAS HOLLOWELL for and in Consideration of the Sum of Seventy five Pounds current Money of Virginia in hand paid by the said JOHN HOLLOWELL at or before the Ensealing and Delivery, the Receipt whereof he doth freely, clearly and absolutely acquit of every part and Parcell of one hundred and ten acres of Land unto the sd JOHN HOLLOWELL his heirs Executors Administrators &c by these presents and divers other good Causes and Considerations of the said THOMAS HOLLOWELL, Hath granted, bargained, sold, aliened, and confirmed unto the said JOHN HOLLOWELL his heirs and Assigns forever all my Right and Title of one hundred and ten acres of Land be it more or less lying and being on the Western Branch in Norfolk County the Land that was left to the said THOMAS HOLLOWELL by his Father JOHN HOLLOWELL Deceased which he purchased of THOMAS HOLLOWELL as by Deed bearing date the thirtieth day of April One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty three with all Houses, Orchards, Pastures, Grounds & Mills & all other Improvements that is now on the said Land growing or shall ever here after Being bounded as followeth (viz) Joining bounded & is in ye Pattent of six hundred and thirty-four acres now in the Possession of said JOHN HOLLOWELL beginning on the East side at the Creek called Broad Creek Running along a Branch & by a line of Marked trees dividing the said Lande from the Land of the said JOHN HOLLOWELLs to a Gum a Corner tree from thence along the said HOLLOWELLs line to a white oak, joining JOSHUA NICHOLSONs Land then along the said NICHOLSONs Line to a Red Oak joining ELIZB. BACONs Land thence along the said BACONs Line to a Branch formerly known by the name of the Reedy Branch, thence along the Branch to the Creek thence down the Creek to the first Station which compleats the above piece of land before Mentioned & Intended to be hereby granted with their and every of their Appurtenances unto the said JOHN HOLLOWELL & his Heirs for ever and the said THOMAS HOLLOWELL for himself and his Heirs the said Tract of Land and all other the premises with their and every of them appurtenances unto the said JOHN HOLLOWELL his Heirs against him the said THOMAS HOLLOWELL his Heirs and Assigns shall and will at all time or times hereafter warrant and Defend unto the said JOHN HOLLOWELL his Heirs against him THOMAS HOLLOWELL and further that he the said THOMAS HOLLOWELL his Heirs Executors & Administrators shall and will warrant at all times hereafter within the space of seven years next ensuring the date of these presents upon the Reasonable Request & at the Cost and Charges, in Law of the said JOHN HOLLOWELL his Heirs and assigns make and doe suffer acknowledge and Execute or to be made done Acknowledged suffered Executed all and every such Lawfull & Reasonable Act or Acts Thing & Things device & devices & sure making of the Premises before mentioned bargained & sold and every parcel thereof unto the said JOHN HOLLOWELL and his Heirs and Assigns of the said THOMAS HOLLOWELL for ever. This Indenture made this fifteenth day of December in the Year of our Lord God One Thousand seven Hundred and Sixty Two and in the Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third of Great Britain, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith &c Between JOHN HOLLOWELL of Norfolk County in Virginia of the one part and SAMUEL BUFKIN of the County aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth That the said JOHN HOLLOWELL for and in Consideration of the sum of Fifty Pounds Curant money of Virginia in hand paid by the said SAMUEL BUFKIN at or before the Ensealing & Delivery, the Receipt whereof he doth freely Clearly and absolutely acquit of Every part & parcel of Sixty Acres of Land unto the said SAMUEL BUFKIN his Heirs Exors Administrators &c by these presents and divers other good Causes and Considerations of the said JOHN HOLLOWELL hath Granted Bargained Sold alliened and Confirmed unto the said SAMUEL BUFKIN his Heirs and Assigns for Ever all my Right and Title of Sixty acres of Land be it more or Less lying & being part of one Hundred and Ten acres of Land which the said JOHN HOLLOWELL purchased of his Brother THOMAS HOLLOWELL as by a Deed bearing date the Twenty fifth day of September in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty two with all Houses Orchards Pastures Grounds and all other Improvements that is now on the said Land growing or Ever shall hereafter only Excepted Two acres of Land that the said JOHN HOLLOWELL Reserves for the use of his Mill adjoining to the aforesaid Sixty Acres it Being Bounded as followeth viz: begining on the East side at the Creek called Broad Creek Runing along a branch to a white oak then by a line marked Trees to a White Gum standing near the foot of the said JOHN HOLLOWELLs Road that Leads to his House from thence a Cross the said One Hundred and Ten acres before mentioned as the Main Road Runs to an Ash near the Bridge over Ready Branch adjoining to ELIZABETH BACONs Land thence down the Branch to the Creek thence down the Creek to first station which completes the above piece of Land before mentioned and Intended to be hereby Granted with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said SAMUEL BUFKIN and his Heirs for ever and the said JOHN HOLLOWELL for himself and his Heirs the said Tract of Land and all other the Premises with their appurtenances unto the said SAMUEL BUFKIN his Heirs against him the said JOHN HOLLOWELL his Heirs and Assigns shall and will at all time & times hereafter warrent and Defend unto the said SAMUEL BUFKIN his Heirs against him JOHN HOLLOWELL and further that the said JOHN HOLLOWELL his Heirs Executors and Administrators shall and will Warrent at all times hereafter within the space of seven Years next Ensuing the date of these presents upon the Reasonable Request and at the Cost and Charges in Law of the said SAMUEL BUFKIN his Heirs & Assigns make and doe Suffer Acknowledge & Execute or to be made done Acknowledged Suffered Executed all and every such Lawfull and Reasonable Act or Acts things and things device & devices & sure making of the Premises before mentioned Bargained & sold and every parcel thereof unto the said SAMUEL BUFKIN and his Heirs and Assigns of the said JOHN HOLLOWELL In Witness whereof The said JOHN HOLLOWELL hath hereunto set my hand & affixed my Seal the day and year first above written. This Indenture made the Nineteenth Day of June in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and Sixty four Between JOHN COATS & AGNESS his Wife of the County of Norfolk of the one Party and JONATHAN POINER of the same County aforesaid of the other Part Witnesseth that for and in Consideration of the Sum of Twnety five pounds Current Money of Virginia to the said JOHN COATS in hand paid by the said JONATHAN POINER at or before the Sealing and Delivery of these Presents The Receipt whereof he doth hereby Acknowledge and therfore doth Release acquit and Discharge the said JONATHAN POINER his Heirs Executors and Administrators by these Presents. He the said JOHN COATS Hath Granted Bargained Sold Aliened Released and Confirmed and by these Presents Doth Grant Bargain Sell Alien Release and Confirm unto the said JONATHAN POINER in his Actual Possession now being by Virtue of a Bargain and Sale to him thereof made by the said JOHN COATS for one whole Year, by Indenture bearing Date the Day next before the Date of these Presents and by force of the Statute for Transferring Uses into Possession and his Heirs One certain Tract or Parcel of Land Lying and being in the County of Norfolk Begining at a Corner Cypress in HENRY HOLLOWELLs Line Thence runing up his Line to BATEMAN MILLERs & from thence down to the swamp Containing Fifty acres Land and all Houses, Buildings, Orchards, Ways, Waters, Water Courses, Profits Commodities Hereditaments & Appurtenances whatsoever to the said Premises hereby Granted or any Part thereof belonging or in any wise appertaining, and the Reversion and Rebersions, Remainder and Remainders, Rents, Issues and Profits thereof & also all the Estate, Right Title, Interest, Use Trust Property Claim and Demand whatsoever of him the said JOHN COATS and AGNESS his wife, of, in and to the said Premises and all Deeds, Evidences and Writings touching or in any wise concerning the same. To have and to hold the said Fifty Acres Land and all and Singular other the Premises hereby Granted and Released and every Part and Parcel thereof with them and every of their appurtenances unto the said JONATHAN POINER his Heirs and Assigns forever and the said JOHN COATS and AGNESS his Wife for themselves their Heirs Executors and Administrators doth Covenant Promise and Grant to and with the said JONATHAN POINER his Heirs and Assigns by these Presents. That the said JOHN COATS now at the Time of Sealing and Deliverying of these Presents is Siezed of a Good perfect and Indefeazible Estate of Inheritance in Fee Simple of and in the Premises hereby Granted and Released and that he hath good Power and Lawful & Absolute Authority to Grant and Convey the same to the said JONATHAN POINER in Manner and form aforesaid And that the said Premises now are and for ever hereafter shall remain and be free and clear of and from all former and other Gifts Grants Bargains Sales Dower Right and Title of Dower Judgements Executions Title Troubles Charges and Incumbrances whatsoever. Witnesseth that the said JOHN HOLLOWELL and ANN his wife for and in consideration of the Sum of one hundred and seventy five pounds Current Money of Virginia to them in Hand paid by the said JOSEPH CORBELL before the insealing and Delivery of these Presents the Receipt whereof they the said JOHN HOLLOWELL and ANN his wife doth hereby acknowledge and doth acquit and discharge him the said JOSEPH CORBELL his Heirs Executors and adms of every Part and Parcel thereof Hath Sold Granted Bargained Enfeoffed and confirmed and doth by these Presents Sell Grant Bargain Enfeoff and Confirm unto the said JOSEPH CORBELL and his Heirs for ever one certain Tract or Parcel of Land Situated and being on the North side of Sedgy Creek of the Western Branch of Elizabeth River in the County aforesaid it being Part of the Tract of Land whereon the said HOLLOWELL now Dwelleth on and Bounded as followeth viz. Beginning at an Ash standing in the said CORBELLs former Line and in the Head of the aforesaid Sedgy Creek thence runing North Thirty Degrees East One hundred and four Poles to a Red Oak standing in the Old Patent line thence South East half East along the old line One hundred and Fifty four poles thence runing South South West along the old Line One hundred and four poles to the aforesaid Sedgy Creek thence along the said Creek up the to the Creek first given Station all which said Land containing one hundred and four acres more or less with the Reversion and Reversions Remainder and Remainders, Rents, Issues, profit & commodities with their appurtenances. To have and to hold the said Land and Premises with their and every of their appurtenances to the only Proper Use and Behoof of him the said JOSEPH CORBELL his Heirs and Assigns forever and the said JOHN HOLLOWELL and ANN his wife doth for themselves their Heirs Executors and Assigna forever Warrant and defend the said Land & Premises with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said CORBELL his Heirs Executors, Administrators & Assigns against them the said JOHN HOLLOWELL and ANN his wife their Heirs Executors &c. This Indenture made this twenty seventh Day of June in the year of our Lord One thousand seven Hundred and Sixty six Between JOHN HOLLOWELL and ANNE his wife of the one Part and JOSEPH CALVERT of the other Part. Witnesseth That the said JOHN HOLLOWELL and ANNE his Wife for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred Pounds Lawful Money of Virginia to the said JOHN HOLLOWELL in Hand paid by the said JOSEPH CALVERT the Receipt whereof the said JOHN HOLLOWELL doth hereby acknowledge and thereof doth clearly exonerate acquit & discharge the said JOSEPH CALVERT his Heirs and Assigns and every of them for ever by these Presents. Have granted, Bargained and sold and by these Presents do Grant, Bargain and Sell unto the said JOSEPH CALVERT his Heirs and Assigns for ever two tracts or Parcels of Land Situate lying and being in the County of Norfolk upon the North side of Broad Creek on the Head of Elizabeth River being Part and Parcel of a Patent granted to one THOMAS HOLLOWELL bearing Date the Twenty seventh Day of September in the year of our Lord One thousand Six Hundred and Eighty, There on Beginning upon the North side of the said Creek at a red Oak joining CORBINs line and running North upon a Valley ten Degrees East Forty Poles to a red Oak thence North ten Degrees West Forty poles to a Pine, thence North twenty four Degrees East Forty Six Poles to an Ash standing in a Fork of a Branch thence down the Branch and Sedgy Creek to the Mouth thereof below the said HOLLOWELLs mill thence up the said Broad Creek to the first Station, containing about one Hundred and Forty acres more or less. The other Tract or parcel of Land Beginning at an Ash in Reedy Branch and running West Quarter Southerly Seventy Poles to a red oak, thence North one Hundred and ten poles along the said old Patent line, thence South Eighty Degrees East One hundred and thirty poles to a white gum, thence South East Fifty Poles to a Pine, thence South thirty four Poles to a Hickory, thence South to a gum standing at the foot of HOLLOWELLs Path at the Main Road which gum is the Corner Tree between the said HOLLOWELL and SAMUEL BUFKIN, thence along the said Main Road to the first station, containing about one hundred and ten acres more or less, and all Houses, Buildings, Orchards, Ways, Waters, Water Courses, Profits, Commodities, Hereditaments, and Appurtenances, whatsoever to the said two Tracts or Parcels of Land hereby Granted in any wise appertaining, and the Reversion & Reversions Remainder and Remainders, Rents, Issues and Profits thereof and also all the Estate, Right, Title, Interest, Use, Trust, Property Claim & Demand whatsoever of them the said JOHN HOLLOWELL and ANN his wife of in and to the said Premises. To have and to hold the said Two Tracts or Parcels of Land and all and Singular the Premises hereby granted and Sold and every Part or Parcel thereof with them and every of their appurtenances unto the said JOSEPH CALVERT his Heirs and assigns for ever, to the only proper use and Behoof of him the said JOSEPH CALVERT and of his Heirs and Assigns for ever, and the said JOHN HOLLOWELL and ANN his Wife now at the Time of Sealing and delivering of these Presents are Seized of a good and indefeazible Estate in Fee Simple of and in the Premises hereby Granted and Sold, and that they have good and Lawful Power and authority to Grant and Convey the same to the said JOSEPH CALVERT in Manner and Form aforesaid, and that the said Premises now are and so for ever shall remain and be free and clear of and from all former and other Gifts, Grants, Bargains, Sales, Dower Rights & Title of Dower, Titles, Troubles, Charges and Incumbrances whatsoever made or done committed or suffered by the said JOHN HOLLOWELL and ANNE his Wife or any other Person or Persons whatsoever; And Lastly that the said JOHN HOLLOWELL and ANNE his Wife and their Heirs all & Singular the Premises, hereby granted and Sold with their appurtenances unto the said JOSEPH CALVERT his Heirs and assigns against them the said JOHN HOLLOWELL and ANN his Wife and their Heirs and all and every other Person or Persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and for ever defend by these Presents. This Indenture made the Tenth Day of December in the Year of our Lord One Thosand Seven Hundred and Seventy Two Between BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL of the County of Norfolk Planter of the one Part and KEDAR OLD of the County aforesaid Planter of the other Part. Whereas HOLSTEAD HOLLOWELL late of the said County Deceased did by his last Will and Testament in Writing Give & Devise to his Daughter LOVE HOLLOWELL now Wife of the said KEDAR OLD a certain Tract or parcel of Land Situate on the West side of the upper Indian Creek of the North West River in the County aforesaid by the description of the Remaining Part of his Plantation with a Place called Thick Neck joining to it being two hundred acres more or less but in the said Devise did not add any Words of Inheritance as by the said Will duly proved and Recorded in the said County Court relation being thereunto had may more fully and at large appear By Virtue of which said Devise the said KEDER OLD and LOVE his Wife in Right of the said LOVE is Seised and Possessed of sd Devised Land and premisses with the appurtenances and are intitled to hold the same during the Life of the said LOVE And the Reversion in Fee after the Death of the said Love hath decended to the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL as only Son and Heir at Law of the said HOLSTEAD HOLLOWELL. Now this Indenture Witnesseth That for and in Consideration of the sum of Thirty Pounds lawful Money of Virginia to the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL in Hand paid by the said KEDER OLD before the Sealing and delivery of these presents The Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and thereof doth acquit and discharge the said KEDER OLD his Heirs Executors and Administrators for ever by these presents. This Indenture made the Twenty Seventh Day of May in the Fourteenth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord King George the third & in the year of our Lord Christ one Thousand seven hundred and Seventy four Between JOHN HOLLOWELL of the Parish of Portsmouth and County of Norfolk of the one part and JAMES TAYLOR Gentleman Exor of the Last Willand Testament of the Reverend CHARLES SMITH Late of the said Parish and County deceased of the other part Witnesseth That the said JNO. HOLLOWELL for and in consideration of a Bond Given to the said CHARLES SMITH in his life time for the sum of Fifty Pounds which with the Interest and Costs of a Suit that was Commenced thereon in the Borough Court of Norfolk amounted to the sum of Eighty four Pounds two Shillings and Nine Pence ½ Current Money and the said JOHN HOLLOWELL being Willing and Desirious of Securing the payment of the said Sum of Eighty four pounds two Shillings and nine pence ½ to the said JAMES TAYLOR Exor as aforesaid He the said JOHN HOLLOWELL hath Bargained Granted Sold Aleined Enfeoffed and Confirmed and by these presents do Grant Bargain Sell Alien Enfeoff and Confirm unto the said JAMES TAYLOR Exor as aforesaid of the said CHARLES SMITH dec'd Fifteen acres of land together with a Mill Standing Thereon with all the Stones Runing Gear Measures Tackle and Appurtenances to the Said Mill belonging or in any wise appertaining To Have and To Hold the said Mill with all and singular the appurtenances and the said fifteen acres of Land together with all the Houses Orchards Ways Waters and Water Courses unto Him the said JAMES TAYLOR Gentleman Exor &c & to his Heirs Executors Administrators or assigns To the only proper use and Behoof of of (sic) Him the said JAMES TAYLOR his Heirs Exors Adtors or Assigns forever And also the following Stock and Household Furniture that is to say Forty Head of Hoggs six head of Cattle three feather Beds and Furniture three Pots four Basons and six Dishes, one Dozen Earthen Plates one Dozen Pewter plates two chests and two Trunks To have the said Stock of Hoggs Cattle & Household Furniture before mentioned together with the Lands Mill Houses and appurtenances unto Him the said JAMES TAYLOR Exor as aforesaid and to his Heirs and Assigns for ever in Trust to and for the purpose hereafter mentioned that is To Say that in Default of Payment of the said sum of Eighty four pounds two Shillings and Nine Pence ½ to the said JAS TAYLOR his heirs Exors Adtors or assigns with the Interst due thereon after the Rate of five per centum per annum on or before the first Day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven Hundred and Eighty two. That then and in that Case the said JAMES TAYLOR Exor as aforesaid or his heirs Exors Administrators or assigns are to Sell and dispose of the said Mill Land Houses Household furniture and Stock before mentioned for Ready money for the most that can be got for them and from the amount of the sales of the said Mill Lands & appurtenances first to pay the said Sum of Eighty four pounds two Shillings & nine pence ½ with all the Interest that may be due theron from the date of these presents together with the Expenses of Recording this Deed and Expences attending the said Sale and the Overplus if any to be paid to the said JOHN HOLLOWELL his heirs Executors or Adtors. This Indenture made the twenty first day of January in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy five Between BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL of the county of Norfolk in the colony of virginia of the one part, and MATHIAS MANSFIELD and ISAAC EDMOND (sic) of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of forty five pounds current money of virginia to the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL in hand paid by the said MATHIAS MANSFIELD and ISAAC EDMONDS at or before the sealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, and therefore doth release acquit and discharge the said MATHIAS MANSFIELD and ISAAC EDMONDS and their heirs executors and administrators by these presents that he the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL hath granted bargained sold aliened and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien and confirm unto the said MATHIAS MANSFIELD and ISAAC EDMONDS and their heirs All the Island containing one hundred Acres more or less lying and being on the northwest river in the county of Norfolk aforesaid according to the most known ancient and respected Bounds thereof and left by will to the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL by his father HALSTEAD HOLLOWELL, and all houses, Buildings orchards ways waters water courses profits commodities hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever to the said premisses hereby granted or any part thereof belonging or in any wise appurtaining and the Reversion and reversions Remainder and Remainders Rents issues and profits thereof and also all the estate right title interest use trust property claim and demand whatsoever of the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL of in and to the said premisses and all deeds evidences and writings touching or in any wise concerning the same. To have and to hold the lands hereby conveyed and all and singular other the principles hereby bargained & sold and every part and parcel thereof with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said MATTHIAS MANSFIELD and ISAAC EDMONDS their heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use and behoof of them the said MATHIAS MANSFIELD and ISAAC and of their heirs and assigns forever. And the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL for himself and his heirs executors and administrators doth covenant promise and grant to and with the said MATHIAS MANSFIELD and ISAAC EDMONDS and their heirs and assigns by these presents that the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL now and at the time of sealing and delivering of these presents is seized of a good sure perfect & indefeasible estate of Inheritance in fee simple of and in the premisses hereby bargained and sold & that he hath good power and lawful and absolute authority to grant and convey the same to the said MATHIAS MANSFIELD and ISAAC EDMONDS in manner and form aforesaid, and that the said premisses now are and so forever hereafter shall remain and be free and clear of and from all former and other gifts grants bargains sales dower right and title of dower Judgements executions titles troubles charges and encumbrances whatsoever made done committed or suffered by the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL or any other person or persons whatsoever the quitrents hereafter to grow due and paiable to our Sovereign lord the King his heirs and successors for & in respect of the premisses only excepted and fore___ and that the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL and his heirs all and singular the premisses hereby bargained and sold with the appurtenances unto the said MATHIAS MANSFIELD and ISAAC EDMONDS and their heirs and assigns against him the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL and his heirs and all and every other person and persons whatsoever shall warrant and forever defend by these presents. And lastly that he the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL and his heirs and all and every other person and persons and his and their heirs anything having or claiming in the premisses herein before mentioned or intended to be hereby bargained and sold shall and will from time to time and at all times hereafter at the reasonable request and at the proper cost and charges in the law of them the said MATHIAS MANSFIELD and ISAAC EDMONDS their heirs or assigns make do and execute or cause to procure to be made done and executed all and every such farther and other lawful and reasonable act and acts thing & things conveyances and assurances for the farther better and more perfect conveying and assuring the premisses aforesaid with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said MATHIAS MANSFIELD and ISAAC EDMONDS and their heirs & assigns by the said MATHIAS MANSFIELD and ISAAC EDMONDS and their heirs or assigns or their council learned in the law, shall be reasonably devised advised or required. This Indenture made the Twentieth day of February in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Seven Hundred & Eighty Two Between BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL of the County of Norfolk and Parish of Saint Brides of the one part and HENRY HOLLOWELL of the same County & Parish of the other part. Witnesseth that the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL for and in consideration of the Sum of One Hundred & Fifty pounds Current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said HENRY HOLLOWELL at or before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL doth hereby acknowledge and thereof & of every part thereof hereby acquit Exonerate and Discharge him the said HENRY HOLLOWELL his heirs Executors administrators and assigns for ever by these presents Hath Granted bargained sole aliened Released enfeoffed and Confirmed unto the said HENRY HOLLOWELL his Heirs and assigns forever One certain part or parcell of Land Situate lying and being in the County & Parish aforesd. Beginning at a large Poplar Standing near a Bridge and aside of the Main Road thence running along a bye Road by various Courses to a White Oak adjacent to the Lands formerly ANN PINKERTONs, thence by a line of marked Trees adjacent to the Lands of JAMES POYNER and HENRY WILSON a Corner Red Oak. Thence by a line of marked Trees adjacent to the Land of HENRY HOLLOWELL a party hereto by various Courses to the aforesaid Containing by Estimation Thirty Acres of Land be the same more or less according to the bounds thereof. And the reversion and reversions Remainder & Remainders Rents Issues & profits thereof and all the Rights Title Interest Property Claim and Demand of him the sd BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL of in & to the said Land & Premisses. To have and to hold the sd. Thirty Acres of Land be the same more or less With all & singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto him the sd HENRY HOLLOWELL his Heirs & assigns for ever. And the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL for himself his heirs Exrs and Admrs the said Land & premisses before Granted & Sold unto the sd HENRY HOLLOWELL his Heirs & assigns to the only proper use and behoof of him the said HENRY HOLLOWELL his Heirs & assigns forever against him the sd BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL his Heirs & assigns and all and every other person and Persons whatsoever shall & will warrant & for ever Defend by these presents. And the sd BENJM. HOLLOWELL for himself & his Heirs Executors Administrators & assigns doth further Covenant promise & agree to and with the sd HENRY HOLLOWELL his Heirs & assigns in manner & form following that is to say that he the sd BENJM. HOLLOWELL at the time of the Sealing and Delivery of these presents is seized of a good sure perfect & absolute Estate of Inheritance in fee Simple of & in the before mentioned Land & appurtenances. And that he the sd BENJM. HOLLOWELL at the time of Sealing & Delivering these presents hath good right full proven and Lawfull authority to grant bargain & Sell the same Land with all & singular the premisses with the appurtenances before hereby granted unto the sd HENRY HOLLOWELL his Heirs & assigns in manner and form aforesaid and that the Said HENRY HOLLOWELL his Heirs & assigns shall & may from time to time and at all times hereafter peaceably & quietly have hold possess and enjoy the sd Land & appurtenances without any lawfull lett Suit Trouble denial or Disturbance of him the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL his Heirs Execrs. To all to whom these presents shall come greeting. Know ye that I HENRY HOLLOWELL of the county of Norfolk and State of Virginia for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving, but more especially for the natural love and affections I bare unto my son-in-law BENJAMIN HODGES, have given and granted, and by these presents do give grant and confirm and assign unto my aforesaid son in Law BENJAMIN HODGES and to his heirs forever, all my household furniture farming utensils and all other my moveable estate within doors and without together with three negroes also the names of which are as follows viz one negro fellow named Ned, one negro fellow named Abram, and one negro Girl named Rachel to have and to hold the aforementioned moveables and negroes, and every part thereunto belonging or appurtaining unto the said BENJAMIN HODGES his heirs and assigns to the sole and only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said BENJAMIN HODGES his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever, and I the said HENRY HOLLOWELL do by these presents covenant and agree to and with my aforesaid son in Law BENJAMIN HODGES that I have good Right full power and lawful authority to give grant and confirm the aforementioned articles & negroes so that my aforementioned son in Law BENJAMIN HODGES shall by force and virtue of these presents have hold and keep every thing herein before mentioned and I the said HENRY HOLLOWELL have and by these presents do promise covenant and agree for my self my heirs and assigns to and with my said son BENJAMIN HODGES his heirs and assigns to warrant and defend all the above mentioned moveables and negroes unto the said BENJAMIN HODGES forever. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fourteenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty three. HENRY HOLLOWELL his mark & seal. This deed of Gift from HENRY HOLLOWELL to BENJAMIN HODGES was this day proved by the oath of HENRY WILSON and EDWARD WILLIAMS and ordered to be recorded. Test. JNO. BOUSH, D.C. This Indenture made the twenty ninth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty three. Between BENJAMIN HODGES of the county of Norfolk and parish of Saint Brides of the one part, and HENRY HOLLOWELL of the same county and parish of the other part. Witnesseth that the said BENJAMIN HODGES for and in consideration of the sum of Sixty pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said HENRY HOLLOWELL at or before the sealing and delivering of these presents, the Receipt whereof the said BENJAMIN HODGES doth hereby acknowledge and thereof and of every part thereof doth hereby acquit exonerate and discharge him the said HENRY HOLLOWELL his Heirs executors administrators and assigns forever by these presents hath granted bargained, sold aliened, released enfeoffed and confirmed unto the said HENRY HOLLOWELL his Heirs and assigns forever. One part or parcel of Land situate lying and being near the North west River in the county and parish aforesaid. Beginning at a red oak tree marked for a corner of the old plantation thence running to the old Landing road to a Holly tree, thence a south wardly course along JAMES POYNERs line to a pine tree thence along the Branch parting ROBERT SMITHs and this tract of Land and adjacent to BENJAMIN HOLLOWELLs to the above mentioned red Oak supposed to contain one hundred and eighty acres of Land be the same more or less according to the Bound thereof and the Reversion and Reversions Remainder and Remainders, rents issues and profits thereof and all the Right title Interest property claim and demand of him the said BENJAMIN HODGES of in and to the said Land and premisses To have and to hold the said one hundred & eighty acres of Land with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging and him the said HENRY HOLLOWELL his heirs and assigns forever and the said BENJAMIN HODGES for himself his heirs executors and administrators the said land and premisses before granted and sold unto the said HENRY HOLLOWELL his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of him the said HENRY HOLLOWELL his heirs and assigns forever against him the said BENJAMIN HODGES his Heirs and assigns and all and every other person and persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. And the said BENJAMIN HODGES for himself his heirs executors administrators and assigns doth further covenant promise and agree to and with the said HENRY HOLLOWELL his heirs and assigns in manner and form following that is to say that he the said BENJAMIN HODGES at the time of the sealing and delivery of these presents is siezed of a good sure perfect and absolute estate of inheritance in fee simple of and in the before mentioned land and appurtenances and that he the said BENJAMIN HODGES at the time of sealing and delivering these presents hath good Right full power and lawful authority to grant bargain & sell the same land with all and singular the premisses with the appurtenances before hereby granted unto the said HENRY HOLLOWELL his heirs and assigns in manner and form aforesaid and that the said HENRY HOLLOWELL his heirs and assigns shall and may from time to time and at all times hereafter peaceably and quietly have hold possess and enjoy the said land and appurtenances without any lawful let suit trouble denial disturbance of him the said BENJAMIN HODGES his heirs exors administrators and assigns or of any person or persons whatsoever lawfully claiming or to claim by from or under him them or any of them or by his or their means privately or procurement and that free and claer and freely and clearly acquited exonerated and discharged of and from all manner of former and other gifts grants Bargains dowers or any other incumbrances whatsoever had made committed or done by the said BENJAMIN HODGES or his heirs or any other person or persons claiming or to claim by from or under him them or any of them or by his or their procurement. And lastly the said BENJAMIN HODGES for himself his heirs exors and administrators doth covenant promise grant and agree to and with the said HENRY HOLLOWELL his heirs and assigns that he the said BENJAMIN HODGES and his heirs at and upon the reasonable request and at the proper cost and charge of the said HENRY HOLLOWELL his heirs or assigns made do perform acknowledge execute and suffer or cause to be done, made executed and acknowledged all & every such further and other act or acts deed or deeds devise assurance or conveyance in the law whatsoever for the further better and more perfect assurance sure making and conveying of all & singular the said land and premisses unto him the said HENRY HOLLOWELL his heirs and assigns forever and to the only proper use and Behoof of him the said HENRY HOLLOWELL his heirs and assigns or by his or their concil learned in the law shall be reasonably advised or required. This Indenture of Bargain and sale between BENJAMIN HODGES of the one part and HENRY HOLLOWELL of the other part and the Receipt thereon incurred were this day proved by the oath of JAMES POYNER, BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL and MALACHI WILSON JUNIOR, and ordered to be recorded. Test. JNO. BOUSH, D.C. (Norfolk Co., VA Deed Book 28, pp. 22 & 23).

This Indenture made the twenty first day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty four, Between BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL and MARY his wife of the County of Norfolk, Parish of Saint Brides of the one part and ROBERT MANSFIELD of the County and Parish aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth that the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL for and in consideration of the Sum of thirty six Pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said ROBERT MANSFIELD at or before the Sealing and Delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof I the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL doth hereby acknowledge & thereof and of every part thereof doth hereby acquit exonerate & discharge him the said ROBERT MANSFIELD his heirs Ececutors Administrators and assigns for ever by these presents Hath Granted Bargained Sold Aliened Released Enfeoffed & confirmed unto the said ROBERT MANSFIELD his heirs and assigns for ever, one Tract or parcell of land situate lying and being in the County aforesaid & bounded as follows to wit beginning at a Chinkerpin tree on the side of the cypruss swamp near the foot of MALACHI WILKINS's bridges thence running along the said swamp N 85 West, eight Chains to the mouth of the branch thence up the said branch South 36 West eight chains to a corner white oak, thence along HENRY HOLLOWELL's line of mark'd trees south 74 Degrees East eight chains to a chinkerpin tree a corner tree thence along a line of mark'd trees a N. East course to the first beginning place, being part of the Tract whereon the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL now lives contianing thirty acres more or less according to the bounds thereof, and the reversion & reversions remainder and remainders, rents, Issues & profits thereof and all the right, title, Interest Property, Claim & demand of them the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL and MARY his said wife of in & to the said land & premisses. To have and to hold the said piece or parcell of land according to the bounds thereof with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto him the said ROBERT MANSFIELD his heirs and Assigns for ever. And the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL his heirs and assigns and all and every other person and persons whatsoever shall and will warrent and for ever defend by these presents, And the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL for himself, his heirs Exers. Admrs. And assigns, doth further covenant promise and agree to and with the said ROBERT MANSFIELD his heirs and assigns in manner and form following that is to say that he the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL at the time of the Sealing and delivery of these presents is Seised of a good sure perfect and absolute Estate of inheritance in fee simple of and in the before mentioned land & appurtenances, And that he the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL at the time of Sealing & delivery of these presents hath good right full power and lawful authority to grant bargain & sell the same land with all and singular the premisses with the appurtenances before hereby granted unto the said ROBERT MANSFIELD his heirs and assigns shall & may from time to time and at all times hereafter peaceably and quietly have hold possess & enjoy the said land & appurtenances without any lawful ___ trouble denial or disturbance of him the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL and MARY his said wife his heirs Exers. Admrs & assigns of any person or persons whatsoever lawfully claiming or to be claimed by from or under him them or any of them or by his or their means, privity or procurement, and that free and clear & freely and clearly acquitted Exonerated and Discharged of & from all manner of former & other gifts grants, bargains, Dowers, or any other incumbrances whatsoever had made comitted or done by the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL his heirs or any other person or persons claiming to be claimed by from or under him them or any of them or by his or their procurement, And Lastly the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL for himself his heirs Exers. And Admrs. Doth covenant promise grant & agree to and with the said ROBERT MANSFIELD his heirs and assigns that the said BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL his heirs at & upon the reasonable request and at the proper cost and charge of the said ROBERT MANSFIELD his heirs and assigns make do perform acknowledge execute & suffer or cause to be done made executed and acknowledged all and every such further and other act or acts deed or deeds device assurance or conveyance in the law whatsoever for the further better and more perfect assurance sure making & conveying of all and singular the said land and premisses unto him the said ROBERT MANSFIELD his heirs and assigns forever, and to the only proper use and behoof of him the said ROBERT MANSFIELD his heirs and assigns for ever as by the said ROBERT MANSFIELD his heirs and assigns or by his or their Councell learned in the law shall be reasonable advised or required. This Indenture of bargain & sale between BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL and MARY his wife of the one part & ROBERT MANSFIELD of the other part was this day acknowledged by the said BENJAMIN and MARY she having been first privately examined as the law directs & the receipt thereon endorsed was also acknowledged by the said BENJAMIN and ordered to be recorded. This Indenture made the fourth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Ninety eight between HENRY HOLLOWELL of the state of North Carolina and County of Currituck of the one part and PETER CREEKMUR of the State of Virginia and County of Norfolk of the other part. Witnesseth that for and In consideration of the sum of seventy five pounds Virginia Currenty in hand paid at or before the sealing of these presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge him the said HENRY HOLLOWELL hath granted bargained sold aliened enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien enfeoff and confirm unto the said PETER CREEKMUR his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land lying in the County of Norfolk containing by estimation Thirty acres or more or less Beginning at a poplar Standing in the branch at the corner of JOHN SMITHs fence thence running along the gall bush road to a white oak joining JAMES GRESHAMs, thence along the said GRESHAMs line to JAMES POYNERs line thence along said POYNORs line to the land belonging to the heirs of HENRY WILSON deceased and joining the beforementioned land of JOHN SMITH to the first Station and all houses buildings orchards, wayw, waters, water courses, profits, commodities hereditaments & appurtenances to the same belonging and the reversion and reversions remainer and remainders rents Issues and profits thereof and every part and parcel thereof all the estate, right, title and Interest, of him the said HENRY HOLLOWELL of in and to the same, with the appurtenances To have and to hold all and Singular the premises with the appurtenances unto the said PETER CREEKMUR his heirs and assigns for ever to the only proper use and behoof of him the said PETER CREEKMUR and his heirs and assigns fore ever, and the said HENRY HOLLOWELL doth covenant and agree to and with the said PETER CREEKMUR, that him the said PETER CREEKMUR, his heirs and assigns shall and may forever hereafter peaceable and quietly have hold and occupy possess and enjoy every and singular the premises with the appurtenances without the lawful let suit trouble molestation or hinderance of him the said HENRY HOLLOWELL his heirs or assigns and shall and will warrant and forever defend the aforesaid bargained premises with the appurtenances against all and every person claiming by or from under him In Witness whereof the said HENRY HOLLOWELL hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written. HENRY (X) HOLLOWELL his mark. Sealed and delivered in the presence of SAML. WILSON, CHARLES GRIMES, RICHARD WIGINTON. Received the within day and date the within Consideration sum of Seventy five pounds as full compensation, for the within mentioned premises. HENRY (X) HOLLOWELL. Witness: SAML. WILSON, CHARLES GRIMES, RICHARD WIGENTON. At a Court held for Norfolk County the 17th day of December 1798 This Indenture and the receipt thereon endorsed were proved by the oath of RICHARD WIGINTON, a witness thereto, and at a court held for the said county the 18th day of February 1800.
