CAUCHON FAMILY

This early French-Canadian family came from Normandy, France.
The family attended the church of Saint-Jacques in Dieppe, capital of the arrondissement of la Seine-Maritime overlooking the English Channel.
Jean Cauchon/Cochon first married Marguerite Cointerel about 1619. They had children:

  1. Marguerite born 1620 married Jean Gagnon in 1640 at Beaupre, Quebec
  2. Jean born about 1622 married Madeleine Miville
  3. Guillaume baptized 1624
  4. Pierre baptized 1631
  5. Nicholas baptized 1633, buried three days later
Marguerite died the same day that Nicholas was baptized (9 January 1633) and in April Jean remarried to Jeanne Abraham. They had children:
  1. Francoise
  2. Jacques dit la Motte
  3. son baptized and buried 27 Mar 1642
