The earliest Garity I have is Owen born 10 Nov 1810 in Ireland.
He first settled in Canada and then arrived in Jefferson County, Wisconsin, in 1848.
He married Catherine - a native of Ireland, maiden name unknown but possibly also Garity (Garrity) - in 1833 in the province of Ontario.
A brother to Owen stayed in Canada but I do not know his first name.
Owen and Catherine had ten children:

1. Margaret Garity born 1834 in Canada married James McGinnis. (my line)
2. Patrick Garity born 1837 in Canada married Margaret O'Connor
3. George L. Garity born 1838 in Canada married Mary O'Connor
4. John Garity born 1839 in Canada married first Ann Clinton, second Rosie McGee
5. James R. Garity born 1841 in Canada married Agnes Thorn
6. Bernard "Barney" Garity born 1843 in Canada
7. Eugene "Oney" Garity born 1846 in Canada
8. Katherine Garity born 1849 in Wisconsin married George Fitzmaurice
9. Mary Ann Garity born 1853 in Wisconsin married John Vaughn
10. Elizabeth "Libby" Garity born 1855 in Wisconsin married Charles Fornicrook
