J. G. Rose. He
was born in Tazwell, Claiborne Co., TN. on 1 Sept 1835. At the
time of the
war He was a state legislator(27) In the Military Annals Of
Tennessee, Rose
has an 8-page history of the regiment. While it is a
first-hand account,
he wrote it some 20 years after the war, so some of the dates
and events don't
match up exactly with those that are
mentioned in the Official
Records.
He was a Major when he was parolled at Vicksburg when it
surrendered
4 July 1863 (21). Captured at Morristown, TN 28 Oct 1864. Sent
to Johnson's
Island. Release in spring of 1865.(8) Went on
to be a Circuit
Judge and retired
