Ephraim B. Parman
- He was born in Greene Co., TN in 1842. Captured
at Big Black, 17 May 1863 (62). Most likely taken to Camp Morton
prison in Indianapolis IN. Served in Co.B, 9th Indiana Cavalry
(63). Parman was aboard the steam ship Sultana in April 1865 when
it exploded north of Memphis. Over 1400 soldiers returning home were
killed (including Ephraim B. Parman), making it the worst maritime disaster
in American history. His gravestone in Greene County, TN says he
served in the 9th Michigan Cavalry. Buried at Solomon Luthern Church
Cemetery, Greene Co., TN (61). His brother-in-law was Daniel W. Burgner
of Co. D. (60)
