My sister and I fell in love with the Smurf toys long before the cartoon came out. We first saw them in a collectibles store while travelling out of state. They hadn't even been translated yet, and were called "Schlumpfs". We just had to have some.....couldn't get them out of our minds and were thrilled when they eventually appeared in our local Hallmark store as "Smurfs".
Long gone are those fun days of hurrying to the Hallmark store when the new smurf shipments arrived. However, I have since rediscovered my passion for the Smurfs and Smurfette has become my mascot.
Why Smurfette???? Well....first of all, lucky lady, one Smurfette among 100 Smurfs! hee hee......But also she is small, blonde, and I think she always did her best to be friendly and caring. I always liked the way she could be sweet and innocent while still showing her flirtatious appeal.
