Plan of Work
Goals:
-
Provide written educational and informational items on child development,
parenting and education that are current, and helpful in preparing young
children to begin school, link home and school learning, and to successfully transition
into first grade;
-
Provide information and experiences for parents and teachers, to learn
from each other, how to best link home and school learning;
-
Promote communication, cooperation and support between the PTA and faculty;

Provide advocacy and parent education for Annual School Budget

Promote Child Health and Safety through educational information,
experiences, materials and products: Bus Safety and Fire Safety (Sept.),
Halloween Safety (October), Holiday Toy Safety (Nov./Dec.), Cold/Flu/ Germs
(Jan.), Critical Viewing & Dental Health (February), Poison Prevention
(March), Sports and Fitness / Bike Safety Helmets (May), Summer Safety
(June).

Provide Parent Education information in the form of the "newsSHUTTLE"

Reduce the amount of time parents need to spend in large PTA meetings.
Provide opportunities for focus groups to perform tasks, in order to make
it easier for individuals to participate in specific areas of interest.

Offer to provide Parent Involvement Workshop for teacher in-service
(utilizing an outside source).

Provide updates to parents and teachers on trends, legislation and proposed
changes in education from the Federal and State level.

Initiate outreach program to parents at McGuire AFB Child Development
Center, Learning Steps, Kings Academy and other local community based preschool
centers.
