Plan Of Salvation

  1. Materials: A map of the building and a room that can be completely darkened.(no windows)
Activity:First tell the students that there is a great reward hidden in the building somewhere and that you will give them a map to help them find it. Next turn out the lights and then hand each student the map. Give them a few minutes to try and read the map(they can not read it in the dark). Then collect the maps and turn the lights back on. Then ask the students if they feel ready to go and find the reward. Explain to the students that the lord has given us the map we need to return to him in the celestial kingdom and the gospel to read it by. Used together they will lead us to the celestial kingdom but with out then we cannot find our way back. The map Represents the plan of salvation and the light represents the guiding principals of the gospel.

Prayer

  1. Materials: One telephone and a picture of Christ. Place the telephone cord so it is running behind the picture to look like Christ is on the other end of the line and if you talk into the phone you will be talking to Christ. The following Scripts, handed out before class.
Activity:Have the students read the script below into the phone. after each student is finished reading ask the other students how they would feel if that person were talking to them. and then ask them how they think Christ feels if we pray that same way.

     1. (Talks quickly, bent over the table, while, inching to the door) "Hi, just wanted to let you know things are fine, Thanks for everything! Call you later!"

2.(Sits on the corner of the desk while talking) "Hey look, my allowance is almost gone. I've got a fun weekend planned and I could really use some help here. There's going to be this Girl/boy there too and I'd really hate to have a major break-out the night before, Smiling through a field of zits is no way to catch the girl/boy of your dreams! oh, and I've got a whopper of a test this afternoon, Stick around and give me a boost, Okay? thanks bye

    3. (Runs in and sees the phone. You reach for it while glancing at your watch. You throw your hands in the air.) "I'll do it later" (You run out of the room in a hurry)

4.(On one knee, dials the phone, then kneels on both knees, pauses, as if waiting forthe call to go through, then begins to speak) "Hello, Father? (pause) It's me, your name.
I wanted to thank you for sending terri to help me yesterday, I'm so glad I have a friend like her. (pause) Yesterday was one of the hardest days I've ever been through, but in the evening you sent that beautiful sunset. I felt like it was just for me. (long pause) I started reading the scriptures again, it's sure hard to get back in the habit. Sometimes I don't seem to understand what I'm reading. (pause) Oh, I see. I never thought of it that way. (pause) Bye. (smiling, You stand and walk out)
