Eternal Love

By Victoria Lynn Nguyen

Chapter 1
***If I could just hold her in my arms again
And just say I love you
But she's gone away; maybe she'd stay
If she only knew***

On a very pleasant evening, a strikingly handsome man sits quietly and looks at the waves shush acerbically along the beach.  He seems to think of something far, something from the past.  He, then, slowly shakes his head and whispers palpably to himself, "Sea gull, where are you?"
As he sits, a young, beautiful woman appears and sits beside him.
"Eric, are you alright?  You're still thinking of her?"  She asks cynically.
Eric directs his gaze toward her and replies, "I've never stopped.  She always lives in my heart, and no one could ever replace her."
A sudden heartache washes over her as she listens to his words.  She thought for a moment that the beautiful blue color of the water, at the beach, had changed to black.  Everything is obstructed by the dark, and there is nothing for her to cherish, nothing at all but the stab of disappointment in her heart.
"I should have known."  She said with a terminal melancholy.
Eric seems to comprehend the fact that he had hurt her.  He tries to cure it by slightly twisting his left shoulder toward her and apologizing. "Oh, I'm so sorry, Lehla.  I didn't mean to hurt you.  I never want to hurt you for anything in the world, but..."
He hasn't finished talking because Lehla suddenly interrupts, "It's okay, Eric.  I don't blame you.  I just don't understand why you still love her when she has walked out on you for the last ten years.  What was so special about her that made you love her intimately?"
"Lehla, you weren't there ten years ago.  You didn't see the problem so don't try to get into the termination.  Ali did no walk out on me, and I hope you understand that.  Please, I don't want to hear any aspiration from you about her."  He responds gruffly.
"I was not judging her.  In fact, I admired her.  She, at least, got all your love and I didn't."
"I know you're still mad at me about the engagement, but there is nothing I can do.  I've told you before not to waste your time on me, because I won't change my mind no matter what."
"Did you know that I have recognized it, and did you know that I told myself not to think of you anymore?  Of course you didn't.  You have never thought of me, so how would you know what I felt?"  she said furiously with a flash in her eyes.
        "Lehla, I..."
She wipes the tears away then replies, "Forget it, I don't want to talk about this.  I came here to tell you that the owner of the National Bank wants to meet with you this Saturday to negotiate the merger between the companies."

Eric Connar Yeung is one of the richest men in Hong Kong.  He inherited his wealth from his parents.  He has an enomous amount of stock in several big industries including the three biggest companies in Hong Kong.  They are the National Bank, the Hong Kong Greatest Stock Exchange, and the World Best Wines.  Eric really is the most intellectual businessman because he knows how to manage his ways of dealing with others as well as his own company.  His FLYING DRAGON Corporation prevails as number one in Asia, second in Europe, and fifth in the world because of his great wealth, his celebrity, and the vast amount of stock he owns.  Despite all this, he remains single, though he is thirty-three.  There are many women who would wish to be his lady, but he always ignores them.  Most people believe that there is no woman in this world that could measure up to him because he is too perfect.  Some reporters had asked him to describe the woman of his dreams, but the only answer he provided is SEA GULL.

The mansion of Eric Connah is located on Prince Road, and there are no other houses in the vicinity.  In front of his mansion stands a great, white gate that keeps others out, just like the gate from heaven.  Behind the gate lies a vast and beautiful garden that has splendidly different kinds of flowers, but roses seemed to capture the biggest space of all.  The only divider of the garden is a pathway for cars to drive in and out of the garages.  There are two four-door garages attached to the left of the mansion, and to the right is a big swimming pool.  The water in the pool is so incredibly clear that one can observe oneself like a mirror.  Behind the mansion is a big tennis court on the left and a basketball court on the right.  The mansion is so enormous that to see it all, one would need to get an aerial view.
The mansion becomes alive when a black Mercedes stops in front of the gate.  Without hesitation, the gate opens and sympathetically welcomes the Mercedes in just like welcoming its chief.  The Mercedes leisurely approaches forward and stops at the garage's door when the driver notices there are two other cars parked inside.  One is a bluish Dodge Viper GTS Coupe, and the other is a white Convertible Mustang.  The driver then gets out of the car and walks toward the back seat.  He slowly opens the door and lets Eric out.  Eric glances at the house, then focuses on the two cars in the front and grins thoughtfully.
When he stops in front of the mansion, the door abruptly opens and a maid bows to him, "Welcome home, Mr. Yeung.  Madame, Mr. Leung, and Mr. Lai are all waiting for you in the living room, sir!"
"Thank you, Amy."  Eric responds kindly.
As Eric steps into the house, little Jennifer, eight years of age, dashes toward him.  She is so delighted that she encloses her arms around his shoulders and exclaims, "Daddy, you're home!"
Eric carries Jenny in his arms and said, "Oh, my little baby, daddy really missed you."
When he gets into the living room, there are three people seated on the couch and directed their gazes toward him.  There is an elderly woman, Eric's mother, sits on the left of the couch wearing a tight, long dress distinctively show the curves of her body even though she is now fifty-five years old.  Not only her attractiveness has not evaporated with times, but also her pride has not yet dissolved.  Next to Madame Yeung is a young, beautiful lady who sits cross-legged with a business suit wrapped around her gorgeous body.  Her name is Linda, one of many high-leveled managers at Eric's corporation.  Not only she is important to the company, but also her husband, Danny Leung, is one of the two incredible vice-presidents that had helped FLYING DRAGON to become auspicious and profitable til these days.
"Oh, look who's here?"  Eric said sarcastically.
"Jenny, daddy is tired, don't make daddy carry you."  Linda speaks softly.
        "Yes, mom!"  Jenny responds.
"Everyone knows Jennifer is a treasure to Eric because she's not only the daughter of Danny and Linda, but she is also Eric's god-daughter.  Since she was born, Eric had given her everything she has ever wanted including his love.
