Reiki

Welcome, this page is for my love of Reiki and what it brings to me.  I have recently joined a Reiki Friendship Circle who meet on the first Tuesday in each month. I took my 1st Degree Reiki during February 2003. I was to take Reiki 2 six months later, but due to my illness and hospitalisation it wasn't possible. From 13 June 2004 I am delighted to say that I also have my 2nd Degree Reiki. 

 I had been having Reiki treatment since August 2002 and felt I had benefited greatly from this.  You  need no special skills - everyone and anyone can do this. All you  need is to be opened, or initiated into Reiki by a Reiki Master.

    Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a healing technique thousands of years old and is thought to have originated as a Tibetan Buddhist practice that was rediscovered in the late 1800's by Dr. Mikaomi Usui, a Japanese Buddhist.

    Reiki means Universal Life Force energy ~ it brings together Healing, Love, Balance and Harmony.  It is a very gentle energy that can be received and used by everyone for the benefit of everyone and everything that exists. Reiki is the energy of unconditional love, it is a gift to us all. This soft, comforting, healing energy is able to easily flow from one person to another, restoring their spirits, bringing a sense of peace and relaxation and putting them on the road to wellness.

    Reiki energy flows from the practitioner and is passed on through the hands to the receiver. You will gradually feel relaxed; some people go to sleep and some drift off into a beautiful space. Only the gentle hand movements when changing positions are usually felt.  Sometime during the session you may experience tingling, heat, or even a little discomfort as the energy works. At times your thoughts may wander and you may even become quite emotional. Most sessions are wonderful experiences and may even affect your life for a few days after the session.

Reiki is not just for humans, it works for anything in the material plane. Cats, for instance usually love Reiki, one of mine in particular is addicted to it, horses too are very receptive.
