Ancestors of Joyce Helen (Parker) Hervey arrived in America as early as 1616. They came from England, Finland, Sweden, and, if tradition can be believed, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, and native America. Some were tobacco planters, numbering among the First Families of Virginia; some were educators, lawmen, tradesmen, ministers of the gospel, subsistance farmers, and yes some were rogues and scoundrels. All have their place in history and in shaping who we the descendants are.
