ONE GLOOMY NIGHT
As you walk down the street you are scared to look up at the faces you meet. Behind you on the walk, you hear the faint sound of footsteps, so soft, in time with your own. A little closer now, a little faster they come. Your heart begins to pound in your chest. As you start to run. The mist encircles you like arms trying to hold you. You find it hard to breathe, your chest on fire.
You reach your house and grope for the door, fumble for the key, and slide it in the lock, Minutes seem like hours, as you struggle on the outside, trying desperately gain entry, Finally the door opens and your in, shut it fast and slip the lock. You breathe a huge sigh of relief. A feeling of safeness surrounds you.
To the window you go scared to take a peek. With a trembling hand you move the curtain back. "What's that? That shadow over there, is there someone hiding there and waiting? Or, is that just the bush in that grows by that tree, in Mrs. Green's yard. You Turn on the TV, not loud, peek out side again. "Now where did that shadow go." Double check the locks on the door, you put on your pj's and jump into bed and pull the covers over your head.
As the city sleeps out he creeps, following unsuspecting souls, waiting till they least expect it, then pulling them in to life so rude. Dragging them down into despair, until they no longer care. About themselves or others. On this night so dark, he found the soul he wanted to take. She sensed him She was a strange one, so alert, Not like the others so easy to lure. She locked him out. She knew what to fear. Outside her house he stood. Waiting the night away. Soon it will be All Hollows eve and his powers shall be a full peak. On that night he will take the one he desires
. The morning came and you woke without fear. Time to get up for work and get on with life, In this town so strange to you. With no family or friends you follow the same work routine, it places same old faces. Never meeting anyone new. At quitting time the feeling from the night before returns, stronger then ever. Out on the street she walks being ever watchful as you goes. Shying away from alleys and wooded groves. There! Just buy that tree, your heart is racing. Can it be? A swirl of mist comes out to the walk and two passer-by walked into its grip. "Where did they go." You panicked with fear. And turn and runs to the bus stop that's near. The bus pulls in you gets there. You dash on in a flash. You are not accustomed to being downtown at night. The big city life was not your choice. The bus rolls to a stop and off you go. There is big neon sign saying " PETE'S BAR AND GRILL". Music and laughter flowed from the bar. You think to yourself, "I'll have my dinner here and then go home. I know it's just my imagination, I'm not used to living alone. Inside the bar, you look around, and find a seat. Ordered a drink and something to eat. A voice in the shadows comes to her so clear. "I know what's following you and what you fear." You pivot in your chair looking around. "Who are you?" You asked with a trembling voice. "Give me some answers, cause I thought I was going crazy" The voice answers. "Your not crazy my special one, you are gifted and needed here."
