He was married to Sally Hail on 1 Dec 1806 in , Franklin Co, VA. Sally Hail was born on 14 Jul 1788. She died on 6 Mar 1856 in Oglethorpe, GA. David Maddox and Sally Hail had the following children:

child60 x. James Clark Mattox was born on 26 Aug 1830. He died about 1865.
