Missions-Myrtle Beach Spring'98
This trip was taken while I was active with the AUM campus ministries.
On this trip, we performed various services for the church that hosted us: painting their gym, cleaning, etc. We divided
into different groups, each having a separate task. One group would paint, one did street ministry at the local mall,
and the other would go on prayer walks. We rotated so each of us would get a chance to do all three. My favorite was
the street ministry. We picked a large area at the mall and used balloons, juggling, and clowning to entertain and
to tell the people about Christ. We had to train for this part. One of the active guys at BCM had formed a street ministry
with two of his friends. He taught us how to make simple balloon animals, swords, and hats. When we were at the mall
doing balloons, one of our guys was using four or five balloons to make each hat. He had some crazy designs.
The prayer walks were another part of the trip I enjoyed. I went with a group of three or four girls(no, that's not
why I enjoyed it). What we did is walk in different areas and as we walked, we prayed. We prayed for the people in the area,
the businesses, we even prayed over a pay phone. If you ever get a chance to go on missions, GO. You will not
regret it. I have learned something from every mission trip I have been on. Be sure to visit my page on
my summer mission trip to New Orleans. See ya.
