Welcome to our tips page!!!
Here you will see every tip we find that might help you in your search. As we hope this page helps many in the future.
We are not members of any groups or organizations you see here we are just trying to make finding this information easier for everyone involved in a Florida adoption search. If you find a link here that you feel your group would not want on our web page please have someone leave us a message in our guestbook and we will do what we can to appease all concerned. We have worked very hard building this web page and alot of time and hopes have gone into it. We will keep searching the web for new information about Florida searches trying to keep you updated as best as we can. If for some reason we are no longer able to maintain this site it will be turned over to someone responsible so the posts will not disappear like so many children and birth famlies have in adoption.
Thanks,Secretleakers

Please read through all of tips before you go to another link as the information you want may be the next tip you read.

TIP #1
Very important register with ISRR (International Soundex Reunion Registery) FARR (Florida Adoption Reunion Registery) and REGDay (this is the Florida REGDay web page for more information on that.) and hopefully you have already registered with the adoption agency that handled your case if you have not already done all (or at least most) of these registeries get busy. We have made it as easy as possible for you to do so here.

TIP #2
If an email address is inoperable you can go to Bigfoot or Infospace (and probably others) to do a reverse email lookup. They are usually a year or two behind so they might have the person still listed.
AOL users do have a turn off mode for unauthorized persons (i.e. spammers) to contact them. Unfortunately this sometimes means they unknowingly prevent your email from reaching them too! Feel free to contact anyone on one of the adoption mailing lists and they can echo your search for that person to all the other lists. Be sure to state they have your permission to do this in your email to that person or group.

TIP #3
If you have sent to an email account and found it invalid ,but you are sure it is a match to a person whom you are seeking there are still some things you can do. We will use AOL as our example here (Please no one take any offense) ALL AOL Accounts are verified either by a credit card or by a check system. This is where an attorney steps in. What the attorney needs to do is send to AOL's lawyer a letter of sorts to send to the invalid account holders Credit Card agency and/or Personal Bank a message. This is done all of the time in cases of emergency. AOL will not release this info to the regular person. This process will cost some money ,but has been proven well worth it. You can ask an adoption agency of sorts.....a reputable one.....or the State Attorney General.....(they're good people) and let them know what it is you are attempting to do. They can refer you to someone in your area. You don't want a general lawyer. You want a specialist.

TIP #4
Seems like just about every place you could want to find in Florida is listed here Florida links .

TIP #5
As you have most likely have noticed by now our web page is compiled of posts and information from all over the internet there are still some posts we can not place here because of some people believing in Secrets. In that I am not tring to ridicule anyone but help everyone. So I am placing links to those pages here where the registery owners do not show any email addresses and you have to go through them to make a possiable match. If you have not found whom you are looking for here try some of these places devoted to Florida searches. (Very good pages but still secrets kept.)

TIP #6
Join a support group in your area even if your area is not in Florida talking to others helps alot. The Florida Adoption Hotline at(904)353-0679 is available to answer many of your questions and put you in touch with support groups from everywhere. You can also check here in our Support list for a group near you. If you are a birth mother there is a great support group called Sunflower Birthmoms run by a woman named Alana.

TIP #7
Write your Florida Represenatives and ask them to introduce and sponsor responsible bills for Florida Legislation. You can find their email as well as their snail mail address here Florida Adoption Links.

TIP #8
You can write or call Vital Records to inquire about a marriage, divorce or death certificate if you have a name. You only need one person's name. They will do a search for a period of several years but it will be a little more expensive than knowing the exact date. Many large libraries carry microfiche regarding this information in their geneology departments.

TIP #9
Always be careful when searching the internet as you will run across may people and businesses offering you their searching services for a fee.
We are not here to demolish any reputable businesses, but BUYER BEWARE as the old addage goes. Ask around thru different support groups who to stay away from and who have the best reputations. Remember you can always do alot of your own searching thru county courthouses via adoption records, divorce records, marriage records, deeds, death records, etc. Your library should also carry an excellent selection of search and reunion books. Ask for help, do not be shy about this.

As in most adoption search cases this is the perfect picture to how we feel. Don't ever feel alone. We have built this web page in hopes people understand how many problems we as searchers have (almost like trying to push that boulder up a hill)we just want to make sure as many people as possible get that boulder up and not have to start all over again.
