A Little History
My line of the Toler family comes from the states of Kentucky and Virginia. There has also been some mention of North carolina, but at this time I have been unable to provide any documents to substantiate this fact. I have taken the family line back to the 1700's in Virginia with Richard M Toler. He is my Great-Great Grandfather. He was born in 1823 in Virginia. He married in 1840 to a women named Chaney Combs Fields in Logan, Virginia. They were married until about 1850 when he married my Great-Great Grandmother Rebecca Fields, who was also Chaney's cousin. Richard and Rebecca were married in Perry Co. Kentucky where he moved to raise a family. This is also where Rebecca was born in 1832. While they were in Perry Co. Rebecca gave birth to nine children. 2. James Toler Fields(Richard,Chaney) was born February 02, 1847 in Perry Co. Kentucky, and died July 06, 1919 in New Zion, Jackson, Kentucky. He married Susan Sizemore October 1869 in Owsley Co. Kentucky, daughter of Henderson Sizemore and Minerva Combs.
