DOLLS

I began making dolls in 2001. I had been searching for one that resembled my daughter who passed away at only 4 days old. Unable to find any, I decided I'd have to make one myself. I started searching online for information on changing a basic vinyl doll into something more lifelike. I came across a website describing the process of "reborning". I was amazed at how real these baby dolls looked and had to give it a try.

I made my first reborn and was so excited at how I had achieved a likeness of my daughter. I made another and after selling him on ebay within 3 hrs of listing, I knew this would be a great home business for me. Unfortunately, many other people discovered the techniques and began selling on ebay which has caused the market to be saturated with them and the demand just isn't there like it was 4 yrs ago. I cannot make a decent profit anymore and usually end up taking a loss on every doll. For this reason, as well as needing more time for my family, I've decided to take a break from them and look for other ways of contributing to our family's finances. I'll probably make a few more dolls in the future, but my business will never be what it once was.
