Peter Nicholas is listed in the tax records of Fairview Twp., York Co, PA from 1821 thru 1836/7. During this period of time his occupation is listed as a cordwinder (cordwainer = shoemaker). In the tax records of 1834/5 Peter and David are listed as children of Peter and again in 1836/7, Peter and David are shown as children of Peter, Sr.
The next record I was able to find on Peter was 1847 tax list dated Nov 1846. At this time peter is taxed as a tenent in the borough of Mechanicsburg, Cumberland Co. PA. His occupation was then listed as a shoemaker.
In the tax lists of 1850 we find Peter taxed as a tenant in the East Pennsboro Twp, with his occupation listed as a laborer. This must be Peter, son of Peter since Peter, St was taxed as a tenant in Hampton Twp and his occupation was listed as a shoemaker. At this time David Nicholas was also taxed as a freeman, occupation laborer.
In the 1844 Cumberland Co, tax lists (Kritzers District, Est Pennsboro Twp) Peter Nicholas was taxed as a tenant, occupation shoemaker.
