MUSTARD SEED POEMS
 

Money may be the husk of many things,
but not the kernel.
It brings you food, but not appetite:
medicine, but not health;
acquaintances but not friends;
servants, but not loyalty;
days of joy, but not peace or happiness.
 

Nothing is worth doing can be achieved
in our lifetime;
therefore we must be saved by hope.
nothing which is true or beautiful
or good makes complete sense in any
context of history;
therefore, we must be saved by grace.
nothing we do can be accomplished
alone;
therefore we are saved by love.

god calls us to get into the game,
not to keep score.

When the Great Scorer comes to write
against your name, he marks not that
you have won or lost,
but how you played the game.

If your day is hemmed in prayer,
it's less likely to unravel.

God enters by a private door into
every individual.

Christ has turned all our sunsets
into dawns.

Its smart to pick your friends;
but not to pieces.

If you find that you are going the
wrong way,
God allows u-turns.

Man is not the creature of circumstances.
Circumstances are the creatures of man.

God gives us the ingredients for our
daily bread,
but He expects us to do the baking.

Everyone prays in their own language,
and there is no language that God does
not understand.

We should consider ourselves as spirits
having a human experience,
rather than humans having an occasional
spirtual experience.

When we do what we can,
God will do what we can't.

many things may capture your eye--
let faith in God capture your heart.

Christ goes before us and leaves His
footprints to guide us.
then He takes our hand and walks with us.

even a seed of faith can grow in the
crack of a rock if it keeps its face
toward the sun.

we cannot build a ladder high enough
to reach God.
he reaches down to touch us.

when you study the bible hit and miss,
you miss more than you hit.

sweet water is flowing water.
plant your heart by a stream of
god's love and you will drink anew
every day.

the bible is like a practical repair
manual;
there are no hopeless cases and
always room for improvements.

it takes two to quarrel,
but only one to apologize.

worry changes nothing;
prayers changes everything.

god's love is the fountain from which
all our blessings flow.

in truth, you don't hold angry opinions--
angry opinions hold you!

Do what you can;
your heavenly father will
do what you can't.

the result of saying yes to jesus is
a life of joy and peace.
make him your first choice.

only fools buy what they do not need,
with money that they do not have.
to impress people who don't even care.

the only way to flee from the devil
is to flee into the arms of god.

to have god's power,
you must be plugged into god's love.

the cross was an instrument of death
until christ made it an instrument of life.

make suffering a magnet that draws
you closer to god.

pray as you ought,
and you will live as you pray!

you will know the peace of god
when you know the god of peace.

the richest people in the world are
those that are content with what
they have--no matter how little it
may be.

faith gives you peace for the past,
grace for the present,
and hope for the future.

god will hide his purpose so you will
live on his promises.

the wise wait on god;
the foolish believe he should wait
on them.

sincere prayers have great power--
wishes alone have none.

life's victories are won in inches,
not miles.

never forget in the darkness what
god has taught you in the light.

sins keep you stumbling in the dark;
god's forgiveness lets you walk in
the light.
