Shaker Cards

Shaker Cards - is proudly brought you to by Nikki Ingham-Rhodes of Stamper's Warehouse. Please email Nikki if you require further information about Shaker Cards and for all the necessary supplies to make your own.

1. The shaker cards come folded in the way the cards will be folded when completed (take note of this, as it will help you later).

2. Place folded card onto the table top. Unfold card (to the left) and lay it flat on the table. (The side facing the desk will be the front of the finished card).

3. The left side facing up will become the background to the window of the finished card. Stamp image (emboss and/or colour).

4. The right hand side will become the inside message area of the finished card. Stamp image (emboss and/or colour).

5. Turn the card over so the card is reversed (the images you just stamped should be face down on the table). Stamp (emboss and/or colour if desired) images around the "window" (cutout area) of the card.

6. Turn card over again.

7. Cut plastic sheet so that it is larger than the card cutout area, and small enough so that the card will close (approximately 90mm x 125mm), leaving enough space on the edge to stick the tape.

8. Measure up and cut double sided tape to the longest sides of the plastic. Then cut tape to half its width, you should now have 2 long strips 9mm wide.

NOTE: The tape will stick the plastic to the rear of the cutout and will also be the spacer between the plastic and the background to the window (the left hand side see step 3). To do this you need to stick the tape so that only half it \rquote s width (4.5mm) is on the plastic. The other half of the width of the tape (4.5mm) will stick the plastic to the back of the cutout area. Hint: make sure that you cannot see the tape from the front of the card.

9. Lay card face down, place plastic over the cut out window. Stick tape (leaving the protective backing paper attached) onto the longest sides of the plastic, 4.5mm over plastic and 4.5mm on card, ( see note above) and then measure up for the tape on the shorter sides, cut to length. You should now cut tape to half the width, 2 strips 9mm wide.

10. Stick tape (leaving the protective backing paper attached) onto the shorter sides of the plastic (see note above). Make sure that the tape meets at the corners so that when you fill the window the filling will not escape. Y ou should now have a shallow "pocket" formed by the plastic as a base and the tape and the sides.

11. Lightly dust plastic with talc (to stop static) making sure that the talc is around the edges of the tape, then wipe off excess with a tissue.

12. Place confetti shapes onto plastic and remove backing tape from double sided tape.

13. Fold over left side of card (it should have the background that was stamped) and press firmly so that the tape sticks to the card.

14. You're done! Sit back and admire your card.
