JOHN GERALD GIRARD

OLYMPIA, WA. July 26, 1982-Former Hoquiamite John G. Girard, 67, of Olympia, died Thursday, July 22, 1982 of cancer.

Born October 20, 1914, at Hoquiam, he graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1933. In 1941, he graduated from the University of Washington, and joined the U.S.Army in 1942. Girard served with the Eighth Air Force in Europe through 1945.

When he returned from the war, he met and married Esther A. Smith Brusha. Mr. Girards mother owned a rest home and when he first walked through the door, Esther was standing at the sink washing dishes. It was love at first sight!!! They married August 22, 1948.

He had been a King County public health worker in Seattle. In 1976, he retired from the Department of Social and Health Services.

Survivors include his wife; two stepsons, Allan J. Brusha of Seattle and John Brusha of Aberdeen; a brother, J. Megler Girard of Aberdeen, and two sisters, Leona Williams of Hoquiam and Virginia Wilson of Iowa. Many step-grandchildren, nieces and cousins also survive.
